bottom paint for AS 175
« on: April 01, 2012, 10:28:51 AM »
I will be leaving my boat in the water off and on this year, otherwise stored on the trailer. I want it to look good on the trailer so I'm considering Pettit's Bright hard finish in white so as to make it less noticeable. Anybody had any experience with this product and also what amount would I need for the 175? It has not ever had bottom paint. I have done this on my old 19-6 but I don't remember how much it took to do the job.

Where ya been Woody?  Coming to the May gathering?
Don't know about real bottom paint on a 175 - when I painted my 170 with oil based house paint, it took a qt.

Hey Rick, Thanks for the input. I think I'll try it with a quart and see if I have to buy another one.
I will try to make the next gathering. I intended to be at Egmont , but when I saw the windy conditions I backed out. I've been on Tampa bay when it blows and a small boat gets knocked around a lot.

Have dealt with them all
The white bottom paints show all growth & grime, even more at the water line
The darker colors camo better & seem to promote less growth

You are and were correct on that day - I would not have wanted to be out there in my 170.
Hope to see you in the boca area on May5. Stay tuned.
