Used to build a LOT of weaponry systems for the Army and Air Force when I was at Lockheed-Martin.  EVERYTHING, whether it was ground or air, was completely sprayed with zinc chromate before it was painted.  Good stuff...

BTW, the non-skid sprayed on walkways on launchers?  You better not kneel on that chit!!!

zinc chromate is good stuff but don't breath that crap!   I think the EPA put a ban on "REAL" zinc chromate to the public since it is a nasty carcinogen.

cant mistake the smell of it! we primed the hull of my old jon boat with zinc chromate before painting, nasty stuff, but that stuff sure does work!

Well that would explain my behavior...

The guys who had been there forever and a day, when they used to fill molds to make heat shield panels...out of asbestos...used to just scoop the asbestos out of bags with a big plastic cup, no protection, no suit, no dust mask let alone a respirator...
