Wheel Options
« on: March 10, 2012, 08:36:13 PM »
Sourcing a wheel for the rebuild. Always liked and enjoyed the Edson product, until I saw their new prices:

From what I hear, there are some good alternatives out there....

Thoughts?

Thanks :thumright:

Bob thanks, knew there had to be better value out there.

Everyone loves quality, but contributing to international marketing expense ain't in the budget.

Thanks for the link, and going a step furthur to Schmitt's website...they supply a number of  cast 316 SS specialty products. And appear to be made in America.

Craigslist!   I picked up a new tilt seastar with the small edson suicide knob, hoses and cylinder for 700. Youve got time, wheel can go on last.

Buy a Edson and keep it for the rest of your life, mine is 15yrs old and still looks like new. It has been on 3 different boats
Whats another $400-$500 in the scheme of things Scott??? Its the little things in life and the finishing touches
I bought a cheap seachoice for my upper station, its 4 months old and rusted already, As soon as I get a chance I will order another Edson.

Hey thanks to all...good advice, and as always, much appreciated.

An Edson came stock on the former Pursuit....it was sweet, and really made the boat.

Wonder what MCL has...I'll give Jake a holler in the morning.

Hey Matt if you take a look at the link posted to Edson...looks like they changed the product lineup a bit. The wheel that was on the Pursuit (satin finish cast aluminum) appears to be available now only with the rubber beneath...

I'll need a 13.5 or 14 max.

your right about the rubber comfort grip thing, I don't have that on mine. That bronze wheel is very sweet too. Here is one for $280 I found on e-bay. Snap it up before I buy it  lol

13 inch power wheel with a suicide  knob, its all aluminum, satin finish. It still looks awesome.
Edson makes a product that lasts a lifetime, mine was originally a gift. You should have taken the one off the pursuit.
I know you don't want a cubic zerconia, gota get the real deal.

Matt, thanks for the pic!

Seeing that pic makes me feel like the first time I successfully played spin the bottle

That is the same wheel I had, only mine was the next size up.

You are right...a CZ will always be a CZ.

Scott,
MCL is where I got my replacement, it is a 3 spoke aluminum, with speed knob, has a sailfish etched in the center cap, looks like the Tourn master emblem, may be an original, or from Hydrasport, they have a huge selection, I paid $120, brand new.

Now that right there is a deal!  The Edson I just put on the Cape Horn was $300+, but it does have the cushion grip on the underside...
