Portable Aerators

So my model wasn't outfitted with a live well pump or even an opening for a live well pump.  Considering using one of those portable Aerators for keeping eels and bunker.  Will one of these sustain bunker you think?  For you southerners who don't ever see menhaden, think around the size of a small ish ladyfish, 12 inches max.  

Thoughts?  I'm not into live bait fishing enough to install a bait well pump/ don't have the resources at the moment

The key is going to be a sufficiently sized tank (those are big baitfish) so they have room to move, and a pump that can sufficiently supply them with fresh water, using an overflow drain to allow recirculation.

Aaron here (aswaff400) can chime in here, he carries a portable tank onboard his 200...it's pretty big though, I'd guess 40 gallons...

Jimbo, bunker (menhaden, pogies) are the #1 live bait here in the Carolinas. Flounder love the little ones, kings love the big ones, and hooked in the back, they are grouper candy.

They are not hardy, far from it.

Aeration will not work....the slime from their bodies turns the tank to a frothy mess and they quickly go belly-up.

You will need a 400 gal pump per 25 gallon recirculating livewell minimum for pogies.

Clamshell intake, pump, and overflow through/off the stern.

Thanks Gran, yeah bunker are slimy little creatures, it makes sense.  You can smell em from a mile awa
