'74 Aquasport 246 CCC outboard questions?(new pics 3/16)
« on: March 08, 2012, 05:25:02 PM »
I am about to start restoring a '74 246 CCC. It did'nt come with a motor so I am trying to figure out what would be the right size motor to get her moving pretty good. I want to stick to a single motor set up and want to find something that will get me moving around 50 mph or so but also doesn't do to bad on fuel. I was thinking 250hp cause I used to have a '78 22.2 CC deep vee with a Johnson 175 and it went about 48mph. Also I was considering an outboard extension bracket and was wondering what that might do for performance and what is all involved in that.

She is a sweet boat that is in pretty good shape. I can't wait to get the project started and finished. As of right now I'm redoing the floor, console, and gelcoat. Add a t-top, fancy up the cabin, get all the teak wood looking brand new and install some sweet electronics. I want this boat to catch everyones eye no matter what style they are into and match the look with its performance.

Let me know what you think, Thank you.

jw, welcome!

Before we all can chime in regarding an engine choice....we need to get an idea as to what you have. You say 246....is it a 240 Seahunter....semi-funky closed deck bow cabin, dual console amidships?

Yea I fell in love with these boats when I had my 22.2 cc. and this one is pretty similar except for a little bigger and with the cabin in the front. I haven't seen many like this so I want to make it real nice.
