No serious 240 progress to speak of... other items are on my plate.  The 240 question is whether the additional time & $'s are reasonable investments for the project.  Have seen several others on the market plug & play ready with motivated sellers grateful to take $5k.  Questionable wisdom to spend another >$7K on this one.  What think you?

  22-2 inboard's running & performing like a champ.

Best to all!

hello there, Jim.
I guess we´ve been sort of "disconected" from the site for some time.  Too much work....
Anyway, nice to hear from you again.

Good to hear from you Jim!  Fixing up older boats is often not financially beneficial.  When you count your labor, parts, and supplies, you are probably off not doing it if you are looking to break even or make a profit.  You'll be lucky to make a buck an hour if you total all the hours and consider the before and after price.

But for me it's a bit of a labor of love, pride, and accomplishment to take an older craft that's in not-so-hot condition and turn her around.  Also, I really don't think you could find a hull today that has a solid 3/4" thick fiberglass hull that is as solid as the old Aquasports.  It's also a bit of therapy to get away from work stresses and do something like some wood or glass work.  I may get less than a buck an hour for my work on a given boat, but that's a LOT less per hour than a shrink costs!   :thumright:

So I would say keep after the old girl.  Don't get obsessed or stressed, but a day or two here and there and she starts to shape up.  I've got a long list for my CCP; maybe it will all get done someday - maybe not - but...  Last Tuesday I got up and was on the water just around sunrise.  The water was like glass, and Gone Fission ran like a champ.  Third cast on a topwater lure and BANG - a nice, acrobatic bass was on the line.  After a couple runs and numerous jumps, she was unhooked and released unharmed.  As the sun was rising I looked around a beautiful, peaceful setting on the lake and thought - hey, 30 year-old boat or not, this is something special.  It's worth it.

Hi Jim:

A reply to my recent post "Could I should I???" in the rebuilds section led me to your post through a fellow member.  Kudos to you for your determination, which I am sure will yield great results and a fine vessel as a result of your efforts.

I found the exact same boat for sale here in the lower keys where I live.  I was considering doing a rebuild ( I have no prior experience) on it, but after reading all 37 pages of your thread (fascinating!!!!) i am deterred......I am not sure how long I will live down here...hopefully a long time, but for now, I'd rather be fishing

Keep going.......like I said, yours is a most interesting endeavor

Hi Jim!

I'm sure you're being asked a lot about the badging you were working on a few years back. We're about 2/3rds through our rebuild and would love to get our hands on some 22-2 badges. Do you have a mold for the 22-2's? If so, could I entice you into making a set? I live in Connecticut, so I would be able to pick them up to avoid shipping. Another option might be, if you're willing to part with the molds temporarily, I could even make a few pairs and return the mold to you.

Our build is under 1966 Rebuild; user name Bhard.

Hope to hear from you!

JimCt,
I am in the early stages of rebuilding a 1969 19-1 Osprey and would love a new set of badges. Do you have any for sale? If not, could you PM me your recipe for making a mold. I have one badge that I think we could pull a mold from. Thanks in advance.

Hey Jim,
How you doing? I'm still waiting for you to finish your 240.Mine has been sitting on the trailer for 4 years now.Waiting for you so I can see what a restored 240 would look like. We have a 23' Proline but I'm trying to convince my son that the 240 is a better boat. Thanks for all your post.
