Deceptive photo. This was out last weekend for the Monterey Veterans Derby 10-12' swells at 13 seconds. BIG!!!


And a friendly visit from Casper the Friendly Ghost!!! We have a few more months till he comes back. Just look for the squid/light boats at night. When they're out, the ghosts are out!
For some perspective....I'm 6'3" 280lbs.

That ghost is a honker !!   Great job.   How many salmon are you up to so far ?    I am still cutting my teeth, I only have one, and that was on my buddies boat.

On our boat, we have landed one shaker, and two have spit the hook while netting, one of those two a shaker and the other between 15 and 20 pounds...it was sizable.  It will all come together pretty soon.

Bondo. Yes, I got the new 2106's with the digital readout. They are F'ing fast. 15lb balls at 300'/min. First time out I lost two balls. I tried to pull up the last 2-3' by hitting the button. WhammmPOW SNAP!!! Clip, snubber and 15lb ball off to the depths.

The next one had about 5' and uhm....I....uhh....tried to hit the button again. A millisecond contact. WhammmmPOW SNAP!

Lesson learned.

Was out last week on buddies 45 footer, his 2nd trip out with the new Scottys, He had the same dam thing happen the first time he used em, lost 3 setups trying to bring in the last couple feet or so.
You run stainless cable or braid on the riggers ?
A trick they have come up with  is to attach a large swivel to the end of your cable..just small enough to pass through the pulley on the boom.. from that swivel they tie in a 5' section of 250 lb mono, attach the clip to the end of mono. The swivel acts as a stop and the mono as a shock absorber. Oh ya, they still run a line stop on the cable a few feet before the swivel.
