1-1/4" drain tube install

Gettin ready to put the new 1-1/4" drain tubes in the transom (Kinda hard to find every has the 1" hate going to West marine), Ive seen the flaring tool out there but have a hard time with the 40-60$.
Anyone have easy ways?

Quite a while ago a member (JimCT) bought the tubes from Marine Surplus here in Bradenton and then borrowed the flaring tool from them and he lives in CT.

Check out my drain plug thread in the discussion forum.  It is more about the transom drain plug but there is some discussion about the brass tubes.  I read somewhere that you can make a flaring tool with a long bolt, nut and large diameter flat washers.  I think I saw it on the iboats forum.

heres another option, leave it a little proud and put a bead of sealant around it. gives it a lil character.

Drag the boat by the shop and you are welcome to use our flaring tool. We use 1" flared drains in our transom wells, but I can order you some 1 1/4" for you to save some money vs. Worst Marine.
