Yeah, they'll figure it out.  Remember the big Y2K scare?  I was stationed in VA and was at a friends house for new years eve, everyone was gathered around waiting for the countdown, well the host slipped down to his garage and manned the breaker panel.  Exactly at midnight when the ball dropped everyone yelled happy new year and he threw the main breaker   you could have heard a pin drop for few seconds until we figured out what was going on... Funny as ell, never forget that one
