74 222 questions
« on: February 11, 2012, 08:29:29 PM »
I recently found a 74 222 aquasport for sale. The boat needs pretty much all the fixins......floor, transom, etc. It has an older 200 evinrude "looper" on it which, as far as I know, could be made to run fairly easy. The trailer is pretty much as rough as the boat but it's there and would get it home. The woman is asking 500 bucks for the whole package. I was just wondering if you guys on here thought it was worth it. I've never redone a boat and don't currently have the time with school but I've always wanted to. Should I just buy it and sit on it for awhile until I have the time? Just wondering what some of you guys would do.

Sounds like a great deal as long as the hull isn't warped, split, crushed. With enough work any one of these hulls can be repaired. It just gets down to time and money.

Aaron, I just realized where you are located. You have some great expert advice right there in town with Joel at Bateau2.com. He rebuilt waterdoc's flatback. His rebuild thread is on their website.

Thanks for the link. Looks like a good build. I went through pics from the rebuild on the transom on his website and then I saw some other builds on this forum. I guess theres multiple ways to redo the transom?? I figured there would be a textbook method. That's what I get for thinking huh!
