Weight of a 170?

I know the 80's weigh around 1150 but does anyone know what the older ones weigh? If not the exact weight, is it lighter, heavier, or about the same weight as an 80's hull?

Jim, you sent me a brochure from 1971 that has the 17 listed as 950 lbs. That brochure must be older than the one you just posted.

Hmmmmm.... I see that...
I'm wondereing now if one weight was with the engine, the other without. 200 lbs is a big difference with such a small boat. At any rate, that's all the info. I've got here.

That brochure is for a later year? The forward casting deck and console is different. Mine also doesn't have the fuel fill/vent on the side of the boat. Something fishy's going on here
. (Does show a good shot of the bow locker cover that someone was asking about - although it doesn't seem to show a bottom latch)

Problem with most of the literature I have is that Aquasport didn't date most of their sales brochures or specs. Likely they didn't want the production costs of re-issuing each year. That's why the "circa" dates. I agree with you regarding the fwd. locker & fuel fill config. My feeling is that various changes were made on-the-fly and without any "model year" consideration.
For example, the fuel fill location may have been changed from the console (like my 170) to the rail area, as shown in the brochure because of a change in a CG safety reg. The CG reg. gets issued and by the next week all production is changed over to comply. Just a guess, but that's the impression I have. RickK and I have kicked this around some regarding our 170's because both our boats are pre Nov. '72 (no HIN's) but the liners are different in several respects.
So, what does a 170 weigh? Somewhere between 900 and 1150 lbs.
