You gain more running surface too. Wing, what is your LOA sir?

I'm planning on measuring it to be sure.  The book says it is 26' or so LOA and the hull is 24'6" centerline.  But like Bob says there is more than one way to measure a boat.  The pulpit and transom are all molded in so in a sense Aquasport could have called it a 26' boat.  Of course in 2000 or so they started calling it a 25' boat.

I should probably get used to the idea Of the outboards set 2 ft back from the transom. The 250 Explorer  is kinda of intriguing . Any one have a opinion?

Oh yeah the original 250 Explorer with the delta conic hull.   SWEET.  There was one in Jacksonville for sale.  Thought he was talking about 250 Explorer from the 2000s

Good stuff Pete

Taking a look at wings "actual weight" numbers...he's right on the money per these specs.

Yea, I saw that one in the gallery, sweet boat ,but probably needs a pair of V6's to push it, I got just enough Dutch in me don't want to spend that much on fuel. :)  :)
I really appreciate all the response from everyone.... knew you guys would come through....
The reason I am not fond of the Euro transom, over here 99% of fishing involves trolling with downriggers with a kicker motor. I am old school I want that kicker tiller in the palm of my hand for quick response and my downrigger within arms reach, bottom depths vary, and you can loose or gain 50' in a hurry. Trying to figure out how to mount a kicker on a euro transom and still have good maneuverability is the question.
A pair of 4 cyl 4 strokes would be nice, in case the weather kicks up and the kicker is struggling to control the boat while trolling you could fire up one of the big mo's and keep fishing.... probably would want to install a steering wheel and throttle on a corner of the transom for a second helm, ... wouldn't want to use one of the mains all the time for fishing, hours would rack up in a hurry.

Really I guess what I am looking for in a boat is cockpit space for fishing,  seating for 4 people under a Bimini hardtop with a curtain enclosure when needed, a cuddy with some storage and enough space if someone wanted to get out of the weather,  either a head or portapotti, a sink with fresh water, probably would never spend a overnight in it so sleep ability is not high on the list and... AFFORDABLE !!!

Thanks
Bill

Bill,
Wouldn't a tiller extension like this one work?  Allows throttle control as well as steering...http://www.amazon.com/Ironwood-Pacific- ... B002VBYLM4

With the kicker on my boat i just leave part of the skeg from the big motor in the water and steer with that, unless your idling it works real well, i do carry a tiller extension but never use it.

Yea the long one would probably do the job. Got a question for ya Bob, how big of job would it be to add a rear steering wheel and throttle control for one of the twins. Have seen a few boats out here that have a small steering wheel mounted on a rear corner of the transom and a throttle control mounted on the inside of gunnel. With a wheel on the transom I could add a ez steer from mains to the kicker, would still have to figure out a way to run the throttle on the kicker, guess I could have two throttle controls back there one for a  main and one for the kicker :?. Sounds like a lot of work and expense. What ya think.

Thanks

Bill, it can be done, just a little engineering and creativity.  Parkers are famous for their cockpit control stations...

Measured the 245 today.  The hull is about 24'6" measuring from the back of the swim platform to the base of the pulpit.  Total length including the pulpit is 26' 5" or so.

And you get to count the pulpit too towards LOA!  Which can be good or bad...

So when do we get to see your new sig pic?  Or will that not come until after the buffing?  Hull looks good!! :salut:  :salut:

Dry stacks and marinas don't know the concept of LOA...they also charge $115/hr for a yard ape to work on your boat... :x  :x  :x  :x  :x  :x  :x  :x  :x
