1974 Aquasport 246 Center Console Cabin (CCC)
« on: January 29, 2012, 08:55:18 PM »
Hello everyone,

I've been browsing the pictures on this site for hours, but can't seem to find any on the Aquasport that I just purchased.  It seems like a rare boat.  I've never known a boat to have both a center console and cuddy cabin.  It's the best of both worlds.  The boat is definitely a restoration project, but hopefully I can get an early start on it in early Spring.

The boat didn't come with cushions in the cuddy cabin.  It also appears that there is supposed to be a platform in the transom area.  The battery boxes are currently exposed, so I'm assuming that there is some kind of cover for them.  I found an article where it described a casting platform.

Does anyone have any pictures of an Aquasport 246 CCC?  I would greatly appreciate it.

Ray

Thank you Slvlng.  I did find an article on my boat on this site.  I'm not sure if it's the same one.  It was very informative.

Thanks for the information!

Thank you Capt. Bob!  That's definitely it.  I would be great if they had more pictures.  I'll ask.  I can't wait until this boat is restored!

We've seen the NJ boat before.  My vote is that it is one of the elusive 246CCC models, but some folks think it's a FF with the windshield removed and a console installed.  But it does not matter, cuz that's what the CCC was - a FF with no helm station, no windshield, and a console installed.  (A little venturi windshield was actually an option on the CCC).  The console in the pic on eBay is the correct one for this model, so if someone added it, they had to go find a Aquasport console of the correct type and install it.

Hey - at $175   The price is right!  Good project boat for someone who wants a boat that you can fish and overnight too.

I would think that this model (CCC) was Aquasport's counter for a similar model Dusky during that time. A gentleman I worked with for years had that style Dusky.

Just a guess.

Hey guys,

That's actually the boat that I bought.  I found it on eBay last week.  For $175.00 it seemed like a great deal.  It's a huge project, but I've been wanting to start another one for awhile.

Do you know the history of this boat?  I noticed that you said that you've seen it before.  I've compared a bunch of pictures between the 246 CCCs and FFs.  There were several options between each model and between the same model.  This one seems to be the real deal.  The bow rail is an exact match to the stock Aquasport CCC picture.  I found some FFs with the same bow rail though, but most had a shortened bow rail to accomodate for the windshield.  I've also found that not all CCCs and FFs had the portal window.  Some did, some didn't.  I'll know for sure when I pick it up this weekend.  I'll just check the back of where the console should have been mounted.  If there's any noticeable work in that area, then it's most likely a FF.

I'll take pictures when I pick it up.

I hope the title is good!  For $175.00, there must be a catch.

When we discussed this boat in the past there was two places of confusion for me that made me think it was a FF
The throttle platform

It's still a big boat with lots of potential and you certainly got it for a song.  Congrats  :salut:

Interesting points!  I'm wondering if they kept the platform on the CCC to use as a step down.  Was one of the previous owners on this site?  Any links to the discussion? I didn't find it.
