My system has been reliable but the analog does require some estimation. I would think that the digital readouts would get your accuracy right to the gnat's derriere. Still, it's easy enough to see that dial when doing tweaks to the motor and the real confidence builder is the Totalizer.

Good luck Scott with whatever brand you choose. :thumleft:

Floscan series 7000 1995 vintage for twin engines, digital tachs, hours, GPH, totalizer, engine syncronizer. one sensor upgrade in 2008. That is it in 16 years. Shot with a garden hose many times during wash down. This is one heck of a system and worth every penny. This was amazing the other day when I filled the 22-2 up. I was showing 44.3 gallons consumed since the last fill up (72 gallon tank). It took 43.7 to fill to the click and burp out of the vent. Not bad 0.6 gallons accuracy over 44 gallons of gas.

What GPH do you guys recommend, they have 0-10, 0-20 ect, I seem to remember a rule of thumb was 10 % of the HP give you WOT GPH so for 200 that would be 20 GPH

yep.  Just don't pick a range that you will read very high or very low.  Most instrumentation works best if you can get as close as possible to the middle for normal operation.

Scott,
I have the 0-32 Gal. gauge for the reason you listed. My old 200 Evinrude would hit about 21/22 WOT. Using your same reasoning (200=20), I purchased the higher gauge.

My Yammy 250 gets a very economical 27gph WOT
Go with a higher one than your calcs, like CB said.

Well I had my first couple trips with the new flow scan, and it read 25.1 gallons used, filled the boat up and it took 25.2 gallons and that includes some up chuck out the vent when filling, this thing is spot on and I'm very happy, just got to play with the throttle now, sofar the sweet spot is 4100 rpm, 30 mph @ 12.5 gph, I really see this thing saving me some gas $ :D

Well Scott, you know I'd be the last one to say, "I told you so".

As you use it more and more, it will become a really good performance indicator and......
It's a real nice feeling knowing when you crank up for the ride back in, you really know what's left in the tank.

Enjoy :thumright:

Scott, just like most products worth their salt, the initial cost will repay itself in a short time...unless it's diesels!

It's just getting over that "initial cost"...

thats the main reason i installed one. my fuel gauge is no where near accurate, i set my flow meter to set off an alarm once i get below 12.5 gallons left in the tank...

so far since ive installed my flow meter, ive burned 42.2 gallons for 4 days of use
