Eagle Cam!
« on: January 19, 2012, 10:35:27 AM »
The Carolinas Raptor Center is near here.  And bald eagles Savannah and Derek have a new egg - you can see them real time on their web cam:  http://www.carolinaraptorcenter.org/

Right click on the cam and zoom to full screen.  She moves off the nest from time to time and you can see the new egg!

Here's info on Savannah the Eagle:  "She came to CRC in 1998 from the Center for Birds of Prey in Charleston, South Carolina. She was found in the wild with a fractured left wing, and although we are not sure exactly what caused her injury, it is most likely the result of a collision, whether with a vehicle or power line or something else we’ll never know. She has adjusted to life at CRC quite well, and found her mate, Derek, here. Savannah and Derek have raised heathly eaglets in our aviary, and we have been able to successfully release those eaglets to the wild."

Cool!!  We are fortunate, we have a few around our place, unmistakeable, that gleaming white head!

I must be too stupid to figure out the web cam - do you have to donate to get to see it?  I don't even see where it is and that video box on the welcome page does nothing for me.

Second that emotion. Popped up fine at work, right-clicked for full-screen...beautiful, mother and egg.

Get home to the new 'puter....the prior screen didn't exist. Weird.

I also had trouble...

When we lived in Pasco County on 10 acres, we had a mating pair that produced an offspring.  Great for them.  The Momma was about 1/4 bigger than the Poppa.  They used to light in about a 60' pine.  One day Poppa lights.  Minute or two later Momma lights.  Momma is pissed at Poppa, they're both yakking up a storm.  I'm standing there about 100 yards away listening to/watching this racket.  Wellllll....Momma had enough of Poppa BS!  Smacked that goddam male out of the tree with her wing, he tumbled and caught himself and righted about 15' off the ground, went back to "his" tree...I'll never forget that!

But that little one they had, he found a mate...and I guess they had a family...

The box is on the right - you may have to enable some setting on your browser to allow it to open.

Naw, its the same one...a 2 year old HP laptop.

I say new, because anything under say 3 years old is new to me.

I think of my wife as my new wife too, but that has been over 3 years.

I could share a story about new girlfriends/old girlfriends, but this is not the proper venue. Please remind me at the international reunion :thumright:
