Boat has the famous "Delta Conic" hull, not sure if you guys are familiar. Not too many around.

Aqua made them for a couple three (?) years.

I know where there is a 26 mako CC that needs a rebuild. It was the Cayo Costa state park ranger boat for years.  With a full transom and rebuild it would be sweet all the hatches are like new.

I've worked on a few Makos over the past few years, mainly mid-80s vintage Miami boats.  Pretty well built, no undo issues from a glass or gelcoat standpoint.  The foamed in tanks?  Well, here's a pic of what happens when that foam gets water intrusion...

That was the most disgusting chit I'd ever seen when I pulled that hatch up!  Guaranty the owner is pulling that tank this winter as when you stepped on the jelly (used to be foam), the water that oozed out from it smelled of gas...

The biggest thing that pisses me off about Makos, though, is their use of PVC piping and PVC shut-off valves in the bilge below the waterline.  Anyone who's been on an older Mako knos exactly what I'm talking about.  TOTALLY against any ABYC/NMMA requirements, and, as that stuff ages and becomes brittle, it is almost a sinking waiting to happen.  The drain piping I can live with, but all the valving and pick-up plumbing needs to be changed to bronze.

Here's an '84 224 I re-wired last year...http://s259.photobucket.com/albums/hh30 ... is224Mako/

3 weeks before i moved out to colorado, i had the chance to buy a early-mid 80's 25 ft mako with a pair of 2004 150 merc efi's, original owner, had the boat fully re rigged all new in 2004, used it twice, he got ill and parked it. the boat was kept inside at my work its whole life, all teak was in great shape, foam was dry, motors ran like a scalded dog, the boat was awesome. due to his health he wanted to just let it go..... asking price in june 2008: $6500 !!!!!

im still kicking myself in the a$$ for letting that one go

Aaron,

that boat is awesome.....and for $6500??  OH MAN. I mean that's a good chunk of cash for me, as I'm getting married and just bought a house...but if I had the chance to buy that for that kinda money, I'd be selling fluids and harvesting my own organs.
Just Saying.
