How to remove acorn stains?
« on: January 15, 2012, 08:46:22 AM »
Recently got a new trailer. While the boat was at the trailer place, acorns from the tree fell inside. They left small brown stains all over the inside. Wife tried cleaning with soap/water/scrub brush, no luck.

Anyone know what will remove these stains without damaging the fiberglass?

Thanks

Soft Scrub?
Time.
I noticed that leaf stains that are stubborn seem to fade away as time passes.

Soft Scrub, Tilex, or another cleaner with bleach.

Good wife!

50/50 mix, bleach and water in a spray bottle... Don't leave it on aluminum longer than a couple of minutes.

Bar Keepers Friend. Cheap, available at any grocery store. Stuff is awesome, I use it on paint, gelcoat, aluminum, especially the textured deck gelcoat, brings it up lie new.
Good Luck,

Seriously though, Castrol Superclean. Will literally take white off rice. Buy it at any auto supply store.

Castrol super clean is a basic purple power degreaser.  Strong stuff but be careful with it.  It can discolor some paints and it will etch polished aluminum!   I use greased lightening and that works good too.    What about the stuff used to clean off the water line scum & stains?

If you want it all gone, right now...On-Off Hull Cleaner (muriatic acid).

It is very strong, therefore the following caveats:

It will permanently discolor aluminum, immediately.

It will permanently stain concrete, immediately.

It will cure athlete's foot if wearing sandals.

It will also make you regret using it if wearing sandals.

But...it removes ANY stain immediately. Including  rust.

Pour a little in a pail...use a hard bristle floor brush...flush with fresh water.

Seriously, If on-off doesn't work, I think your only other option would be fire.

Boat Life makes a cleaner called Fiberglass Stain Remover and Cleaner. The stuff takes off everything. It's a white powder, putr it directly on the stain and scrub it off
