Tampa Bay New Year
« on: January 02, 2012, 08:46:38 PM »
The new year began great here in Florida and fortunately I was able to spend it out on the water.  The bite was slow but the weather was outstanding.

Shrimp was the bait of choice.

I am a live shrimp fisherman, be it for reds, snook, flounder, trout, mangos, whatever.  It almost always produces.  Yeah, whitebait, greenbacks, fiddler crabs, pinfish, whatever, may produce better in certain situations.  But live shrimp, to me, always produce the most consistent results...

And I don't fish artificials, except for freshwater...

Nice trout bud  :thumright:

This time of year shrimp is the only bait to use inshore, with these water temps my cast net is put away till atleast spring.

Trace, Fernando got her just in time, as the last 2 days we've seen morning lows of 29 and 32.  But this weekend?  Back to gorgeous!!
