Often but not always, specs can be found in the Photo Gallery Forum or from a member who owns the model.

Search is your friend. Try 1987 222 Osprey.

As always,
First one's free.

As Capt Bob said, that is an Osprey probably somewhere between an 85 and 87 based on the hull color and pattern.  Definitely not a 95.  If the title says 95 express fisherman, stay away from it.

The hull number will give you the actual year manufactured.  Usually the last two digits.

That's the boat everyone want's to restore.  Great inshore/near offshore boat.  Fish 20 miles out on a good day.  Good luck and check that title real (very) close.

Thx again  Capt John...Yes I see the last 2 numbers of the HIn number are 87...This boat is for sale by a broker as you probably saw...His information was a little off on this boat.."1995 222 Express Fisherman he says..lol.." I'm glad I came on this site..you guys were very helpful.
Is this boat similar to your 1980 22.2 ? How do you like your boat..Is the deck fiberglass and wood or foam core ? Thz again..

No, my 22.2 is a CCP (Center Console Professional) with a deep-V hull and the higher gunwales.  It is quite different from your Osprey.  Lewis has a 222 Osprey that would be pretty close match to your boat - look for postings from "slvring"

A 1987 Osprey would have a wood cored transom and deck, with foam-filled fiberglass stingers.  Core for the deck is 1/2" marine plywood with glass on both sides.  It is important to check for soft spots in the deck and for flex on the transom - especially on the cover over the fuel tank - those often get soft and require recoring - not a difficult job, but something to be aware of...

The Osprey is differentiated in the 19-6 version from its predecessor by a higher gunnel cap (deck cap, washboard, etc.) to increase freeboard.

Lew's nice 222 is a hybrid, a "tweener" if you will, still the same 12 degree hull....but a bridge between the original 22-2  and later deep V CCP cousins.

The designation changed also...22-2 to 222. Then on to the 222 CCP. And next, other CCP versions, 24, 245, 250.  The offshore deep V wars had begun. Probably missed something, but here's the holy grail:

I wrote a contract on the boat today for $2,500..I spoke to a surveyer in Bradenton, Fl...he said will check out the hull and the soft area on the deck and can give me a pretty good idea of what I need to do to the boat..said I would probably want to replace the deck and take a look at the stringers..Thanx for all the help here..
