Jess...my FOS commentary was entirely in fun, for instance "Sir Roger Moore" (James Bond) etc. Please know that I have the utmost respect for your state and its residents.Charleston was and remains the bastion of Southern civility. Sorry that you found my attempt at humor offensive. The 150 twins are too much.Thanks.
Ok guys, I was going to try to refrain from this gross thread derailing by the thread derailing masters, but this has just gone too far Scott, some of the statements you've made about the history of the province of the Carolinas are just plain incorrect, historically speaking. Firstly- It wasn't Sir Walter Moore who was given this province to settle and colonize, it was Sir Walter Raleigh. His first settlements in NC failed miserably, one of whom disappeared completely and is now one of America's great unsolved mysteries, "Lost Colony of Roanoke Island". Later, he gave control of the entire province of the Carolinas to the same group of people you refer to as, quote, "an investment consortium comprised of nar-do-wells and horse thieves with fake white wigs and bad teef." This group was called the "Lords Proprietors", and they still answered to the King even though they stood to benefit from any possible profit. The forming of the Northern Province of the Carolinas was due more the dissent between styles of governments, so a royal governor was given control over the Southern Province, and a Deputy was given control over the Northern Province. Even though the provinces were now split, the "Lords Proprietors" still controlled both provinces. Later they were sold back to the crown, and BOTH North and South Carolina were again wholly owned by the King. To say that the soil would not yeild growth is also completely wrong. Both North and South Carolina were lucrative to plantation owners, especially the low lying areas, but a point should be made that our crops were cash crops (tobacco, indigo, etc). Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Jersey colonies were the ones shipping general crops.South Carolina was the first to secede, but North Carolina and Florida followed as well, so to stay we should get what we wanted and be stay out of the US is just an uneducated statement... it seemed like a good idea to your home states as well, but our state had the balls to do it first. North Carolina may have been the last state to join the wretched Confederacy, but it contributed more troops and supplies to our backwards slave-loving cause than any other state. In my final defense of my home state of Rich Culture and Rich Blondes, I've had the displeasure of meeting many of the rural locals of both FL and NC, and really, they're all the same. We've all got the same Meth neighborhoods and redneck bungalows. Stop drinking the Haterade guys...
