Marpac 7-0900 wash down/livewell pump.
« on: October 25, 2011, 02:44:16 PM »
Only getting about half flow into the live well or out of the washdown hose- can't find a schematic online thru Marpac or Flo jet (who makes this pump).

Thru hull intake seems clear, but before I strip down the pump would like to see what to expect, does anyone have a link to this pump's schematic or have experience tinkering with its innards?

TIA....

There should be a filter somewhere between the thru hull and the pump check that first.

Your pump has a pressure switch at the base, when there is air in the system, the float will close the circuit, allowing the pump to turn on and fill the system.  Once it is full, the float opens the circuit, the pump shuts off until demand allows it to turn on again.  That's the schematic.  The switch is either on or off, so your reduced flow is not that.

If it is the original pump, corrosion in the feeds to the pump, as well as the windings in the pump itself, could be resulting in a voltage drop that will allow the pump to operate, but at a reduced output.  Most pumps will operate at 9-14VDC, but the lower voltage you go, the less the output will be.

And, of course, a mollusk may have found it's way into one of your lines...

Sounds like a clogged strainer to me, can't tell you how many time it's happened to me, a little sea grass is all it takes.

Should be a strainer were the inlet hose attaches to the pump, it just spins off then pull it apart and clean the mesh inside, check the hose at the connection too, might have something stuck in the fitting.
