Baitwell leaning post
« on: October 20, 2011, 08:03:03 AM »
Stumbled on to a decent round bait well that would like to incorporate as a leaning post etc. have a few ?
The Bait well has 5 ports on it? Anyone know what they all are used for?
Iam assuming I can run my plumbing hoses thru the floor trough?
Any recommeds on the freshwater pick-up pump-I plan on keeping the boat in the water for extended periods of time so fouling could be an issue

Thanks

I know 2 ports are used for recirculating , 2 others are used for regular in and out flow and I believe the last smaller port is for aerating but i might be wrong. Its going to be hard to run those hoses under your deck without some major rebuilding or creating a large fiberglass tub to go around the tank like a liner since thats normally  what this type of tank is used for . with this tank its best to put at the transom unless u dont mind jumping over hoses.

Unless there is a hidden drain line somewhere, i'd guess that most of those are overflow tubes. I've seen a lot of guys that buy the best livewell pump you can buy and their drain cant keep up with the flow on the pump.  My guess would be they just added holes until it adequately removed the water to keep up with the pump.

Good rule of thumb with a livewell
outflow 2x the in flow hose (from the pump)
eg. 11/2inch drain
      3/4inch input

Double hose clamp everything

Good luck
