"I smell a northern vote or two."

Hope everyone is accounted for, and there are no false/non-participatory votes.

There have been lots of big bull reds in the pass around the docks, the hard thing is keeping them away from the jewfish. You can always catch grouper drifting the pass with live pinfish on the bottom.
The best action has been just outside the pass with Kings, Spanish and Bonita either running and gunning the blitz or trolling.
See you all there

I have an '89 175 purchased last year and live close to Boca Grande.  There is a reference to the "usual place" for the gathering.  Where is that?    Fred

Hi Fred,
Look at the first post in thread - page 1, there is a map.

Thanks for the replies.  Looked at the map again and it has more information than I saw the first time. Now if I can just get more votes for Nov. 5.  Fred

Not to be a spoil sport but:

Southwest Region: The bloom of Karenia brevis, the Florida red tide organism, first detected more than two weeks ago alongshore of Sarasota County, is currently located alongshore and offshore of Charlotte and Lee counties. Samples collected in the Pine Island and Charlotte Harbor Sound systems and alongshore of Charlotte and Lee counties range from not present to medium concentrations of K. brevis, whereas samples collected offshore show concentrations ranging from low to high.  The highest concentrations were detected in samples collected within the bloom patch approximately 9 to 14 miles west of Boca Grande Pass (Lee County) on October 11. Widespread fish kills both alongshore and offshore have been reported in association with this bloom, with the most recent reported today (October 14) from the Englewood area (Charlotte County) and alongshore and offshore of Boca Grande (Lee County).

Karenia brevis was not detected in samples collected this week from alongshore of Pinellas, Hillsborough, Manatee, Sarasota and Collier counties or alongshore and offshore of the Florida Keys (Monroe County).

Yeah, that last time if the wind was coming off the water I could barely stand to run from the house to the truck.  My throat would start closing up.  It could move on south or go offshore.

2 miles west from Boca Grande yesturday on a NW wind and ran to redfish pass without a single dead fish sighted. Keep your fingers crossed for any kind of east winds.

Well that's some good news, maybe this big front next week will disperse it a little too.

So do we have a finalized date??  Let's hope for some good weather!

I was out today on a friends boat.  We had planned to go dive /spearfish Edison Reef, about 12 miles offshore.  Forecast was 2' seas.

We're on the way out there, and it is just getting sloppier and sloppier!  I mean, 3-5's, with plenty of 4's and 5's.  We finally get to the dive site, and theres one boat anchored there, bobbing UP and DOWN with the swells.  Don't know how they were holding on.

So we decide it's too rough and would be unsafe trying to reboard the boat from the water, so we turn back and head for home, getting absolutely POUNDED and SOAKED on the way back in!

Hate it when the weather guy lies!
