Hi Poon,

Buy the hull before you get married. It will be considered existing baggage. Delay having children until you plunk down the $20K you need to have the boat of your dreams. Then you can move through life dealing with those long term ancilary investments that you need for your financial security like kids through school, car payoff, mortgage payoff, 401K, retirement, debt reduction and staying healthy. My advice is go for it and buy your dreams now or wait until you are 50 something and do it then.

Guys - thanks for the kind welcome. I learned alot today when I went out and looked at gran's rig. It was neat for me to get to see the guts of the hull. The cap, deck and floor were out. The tank had been recently fitted. I must say being able to peak around this hull was invaluable for me to better understand my upcoming hurdles.

The pics below are of gran's build to date....

This was one of the better rigs I saw, an '87 222. The guy that owned the boat did the transom and rear transom cap in 2006. At the same time, he mounted a bracket and a new motor. The floor was soft, the tank had never been replaced and the transom job left some finish to be desired, at least for me. It was a nice start, but at what he was asking I decided to keep looking.

Thanks for posting all the pics Hound!  (I'm more comfortable calling you Hound.  It's hard for me to call another man Poon.)  That's cool that you were able to get a look at Scott's 22-2 in progress, a lot of others don't get such a chance.

Your boat looks to be coming along well Scott. :thumright:

Hey! Wait a minute.... That's not half-pipe at all...

Guys, thanks a bunch, and a HUGE thanks to Poonhound for taking these pics and posting them up. Now that I have a new friend, maybe I can call in sick to the SD's remedial photo posting class reunion weekend :thumright:

Jess, you're right, no half pipe, a major disappointment

There is a whole lot left to be done...forward bulkheads, core the casting deck, tank in, floor, console, etc., etc.

Glad the pics of the yellow fiberglass girder material are shown. Real pleased with that.

Ya'll enjoy this great fall weather this weekend

Isn't the raw water pickup supposed to go on the outside of the hull?

Looking good Scott.

Thanks Rick!

Looks can be deceiving...that is actually a new, green, energy-saving passive bilge pump. When the boat gets on plane, all of the water inside rushes to the back and is scooped out into the ocean :thumright:

Shrewd eh?

Scott, I'm not sure I know when you're crackin' vs jackin' yet.
Got a link to this device?
Is that where they're going to have the scoop and it's sitting in the hole until they install it? :thumleft:

You guys are funny. I have an awesome girl and the only poon I chase now has scales. I have tarpon on the brain worse than most, hence my name. As to the marriage, my girl is as cool as they come. In fact, yesterday when I asked, Babe, what do you think about me buying this hull? she responded by saying why don't you buy it and put a big bow on it for my wedding present.....

I'm not sure what's going on, but something is
