My first Albie

For a few weeks each year, the false albacore come in close enough for those of us with little boats to get to them.

Headed out to a few spots and finally got one on the boat

and apparently this is how you are supposed to show them in a pic (up here in NE)

Pound for pound, these things put up an unbelievable fight, especially on light tackle.

Gotta be like our Bonitas over here in the Gulf.  Hell of a lot of fun, can throw a bare gold hook and get a strike and a fight...but bleed like hell when cut in half by a 'cuda...

Pretty sure it's the same fish.

Got into the Bonita here in SW FL the last few days. About a mile outside the passes they are mixed in with the spanish mackerel. Drag screaming fun, 5-10# range. They get bigger as things cool off
