Looking for replacement Throttle Neutral Button
« on: September 24, 2011, 09:18:45 PM »
My 1979 Aquasport Open Fisherman is missing the throttle neutral button.  It is the original controls from the factory and has the original Mercury 115.  Does anyone have any idea if a parts schematic exists and where a replacement button can be found.  My index finger is getting tired of pushing the pin in without the plastic button. :)

I found the original 1979 Accessories guide and it appears the controls were called Quicksilver.  Here are several pictures and thanks for the help!

Google may be you friend.
I searched using "1979 Mercury 115hp controls" and several exploded view parts dealers show up but I have no idea what your setup looks like, which of course leads to:

"This post is worthless without pics"

That stated, there are a number of Mercheads on board who probably can help if you post a pic.

Good luck.

Joe, CB is correct, we need some pics...

Side mount or top mount?

CB,
An old Morse MT-3, perhaps?

Look on eBay - odds are good, but goods may be odd...

Here's another place to try and find a detent cover/button. I can't seem to find an exploded view of your model control box.....yet.

I think I found the neutral button.  It appears to be a Quicksilver remote control assembly and the button part number 74326 (#49) is shown at the link below. I found the original accessory guide that came with the boat and there was an exact match and assembly part number (74578A 2) in the guide.  I will give it a try and let you know how it works out.

Thanks for everyone's input.

Holy chit!  I can't say I've ever seen a Quicksilver (Merc) binnacle like that...

Doug Russell Marine...great outfit, and have some pretty damn good prices on I/O and IB engines...
