Big waves from Lee!

Saw this on the Navarre Pier website. Can you imagine being out on the octagon? Just remember the deck is 30 feet off the water!

I saw a video on the news from somewhere on the east coast with a bunch of Darwin candidates.  A rogue wave came along and sent a dozen or so tumbling about 30' down the pier.  If some dude had not grabbed his wife by the waistband she was headed over the rail.  We had two yakkers in Mobile Bay lost for about 8 hours during Lee.  Coasties found them about midnight with infrared.  I wonder what an 8 hour search cost the taxpayers?

Yeah, I heard that one the other morning coming to work on 96.1... Ignorance can be corrected with education, but stupid is bone deep.

I don't know about the coast guard, but in the navy the fleet had a yearly budget no matter how many downed pilots we had to find or how many subs came into our area that we had to track (try and track I should say).  There's always money left over at the end of the FY that we spend on nonsense just to ensure we got the same money for the next FY. I'm sure there's already money allotted in the Coast Guard's budget for these kinds of exercises.  So end result is that it probably didn't cost anyone anymore than they'd already given. Now I don't know this to be fact.
Maybe some would rather rely on seatow or boatus for these kind of jobs in the future, but for me, I'd rather know that the "service" the Coast Guard provides may be there in the future if I need them.
That pilot and crew could use the training anyway.

We had 2 Darwin recipients get washed off a jetty in the Manasquan Inlet during Irene. They were taking pictures of the huge waves breaking over the jettys

Well the old gene pool needs a big dose of chlorine anyways.  I see bunches of people every day that we just simply don't need.  Our society is supporting the weight of useless individuals that just a few hundred years ago wouldn't have lived long enough to breed.  So we are actually devolving.

Ain't that the damn truth. They may not have a pot to whiz in...but they breed like wabbits.
