Got a call from the bank that someone was trying to use my regular bank ATM card number FOR A $150 CHARGE TO AN ESCORT SERVICE.  That made me stuck out on the road with no freaking way to buy anything.  ATM card canceled.  Credit card canceled from the other day.  I just happened to have an ATM card from my credit union that I rarely use and it seldom has any money in the account.  It's kinda like my cookie jar.  I'll deposit a little extra cash or rebate checks or birthday checks in it just as a slush fund for boat parts or a new reel or something.  Half the time I don't even have that card with me.  At least it had enough $$ in it for me to buy lunch and a tank of gas to get home.  Since I was driving my personal vehicle I could not use the company credit card for gas and a ton of places will not accept AMEX anyway.

JJ, that's just plain theft, and I know I would be, like, ready to kill somebody!!!

Any idea how this, and the other, are occurring?  I mean, we buy a ton of stuff on the net, at stores, etc., all using credit cards (no fears, guys, we pay them off when they come in...), yet, no problems.  Think it is travel related? :?

I would like to see my pit bull hanging off of someone's azz.  That would be better than shooting them.

I don't know where they are getting the numbers.  I suspect someone has hacked a bank database.  The first one this week is a CC I never use.  It has not had a charge on it in over a year.  It's strictly for emergency use.  I do think some of it could be travel related.  Too much eating out while on the road.  Those little skimmer machines are not hard to find.  This summer a waitress at a regional seafood chain here was busted with a skimmer.  She and her partner had racked up over $50,000 in fraudulent charges.  I think she was working in Pensacola and her "partner" doing the actual charges was in NYC.

Hell, a few years ago someone charged $1700 worth of women's clothing to my corporate credit card in a single online purchase.

I just checked both accounts online.  The bogus charges are gone from both accounts.  My new CC came in the mail today.  Hopefully my ATM card will show up just as fast.

Just happened to my Daughter last week.
She is out here in SO CA, the charges were in NYC??

I have been told to always use the debit card as a "Charge"
not a debit.

Sorry for the trouble, hope it gets cleared up real fast
