Looking mighty fine :thumright:  :thumleft: !!  How'd you decide to rig up the console? Did you take it home so you and the Big Boss could have some together time?  Just be careful what you are heat shrinking when your lookin at those bridal magazines     Getting close ain't it?

Everything really looks great Fletch..! What kind of paint did you use? What did you use on the bottom?

Thanks Guys,

I am using Interlux Brightside (one part). The bottom is getting a barrier coat, then primer/ ablative paint. etc.

I didn't know Interlux looks so good.

I used Interlux VC on the bottom of mine. It does have to be wetsanded and buffed to get a shine b/c it's not very shiny when applied.

Only thinned it about 5%, and put it on pretty thick. I used prekote, and sanded. I dont think it finishes as nice as Awlgrip, but then agian, it costs about half as much. SO, I'd say I'm pretty happy. The test will be what she looks like in 2 years.

I have not started rigging the console yet. I am moving the boat this weekend to a garage which is closer, and better suited for that type of work. My goal is to have the thing 95% done by Sunday.

Fletch,

Got struck with a bout of Vertigo this weekend, Was like I drank too much gin and went to bed and everything started spinning. Sad part was I didn't drink a drop. Got violently sick as well. Spent a day in the emergency room getting pumped up with whatever and I am still very dizzy. Needless to say didn't do a thing to my 17'. Sucks getting old!!!

Yours, however, is looking great! I love the paint job, really looks professional.

Keep up the good work! Hopefully I will be back on my feet in a few days

John,

Sorry you didn't feel well, I am well aware that getting old sucks. I'm turning 32 next month, and the wheels are already falling of the wagon.

The paint looks great from about 20 feet away. Trust me guys, the crappy pictures hide the details. The deck looks like hammered sh*t, and the portion where the deck meets the liner, ever worse. It's pretty much commercial quality at best. However, it's a budget bay boat......I'm not going to get my panties in a bunch.

Fletch,

32 is a lifetime ago, I'm 49 and still think I am 25 sometimes, Got pinched nerves in my neck and back, Don't walk right, but I love to fish and love to work on boats!!!!!

You are me 17 years ago, a little more adventerous, painting your boat, although I have painted plenty of bottoms, I never painted mine like that. From the photos it looks professional, so someone fishing from 500 yards will say. Wow that boat looks good!!!!

Keep um thinkin!

John

Johnny,

About 20 years ago I had severe vertigo...6 weeks later, still had it. Went to all kinds of doctors, no help. Finally someone said try acupuncture.

Thirty minutes into the treatment.....gone.

Amazing.

Good luck!

She's looking good Fletch,
You will be amazed how quickly things start going back together once the paint is done :thumright: One of the best parts of doing it yourself, is if there is ever a problem, you can find it because you know where everything went :thumright:
Too bad to hear about you guys having a bout with vertigo, wifes mom has it right often, it does suck getting older, but it beats the alturnitive(?)
Don't worry about the 20 foot job, mine is more a 40 footer, looks good on film, just don't get to close...but she is all mine and paid for.. :)

gran398,

So far it has not returned, but it just happened this weekend, I hope I never have to go through that again If I do I will try acupuncture, because when I was in it, if I had a gun I would have shot myself in the head to put me out of my misery!!!

Thanks for the tip.

Went back last night and sanded the hull with 220, then resprayed. It looks AWESOME. The cap is getting primed tonight, then painted Saturday, then painted agian on Sunday. Motor is being hung on Monday......getting there. Really excited.

Fletch,

You should be estatic!!! Once the engine and console are on, You will be there, You can rig the boat in about 10 to 15 hours. That includes running all electrical and testing everything. So you are there!
