Glad to hear everyone is healthy.    Material things can be fixed or replaced.

When I was about 7 years old, I asked my grandfather about Hurricane Carla in 1961.

"What was it like, Grandaddy?"

"The wind blew and the sh** flew."

(He wasn't much of a conversationalist, my grandfather...)

1960.
Donna.
I was 9 yo back then. Seemed like it took two days for the storm to clear. Lived in Perrine.
Winds were just above hurricane strength if I remember correctly (with some higher gusts) but the rain was nonstop.
Just under 13" measured. Highest anywhere in the US (where recorded).

Doesn't seem like so much with storms nowadays.

I remember Donna - snapped a huge pine tree in our back yard and the tree fell and just missed my bedroom - I was 5 (everything was huge back then).

Thanks guys :thumleft:

Talking about rain...Floyd dumped 22 inches over the course of 14 hours. Every road into town was impassible, I 40 included. We were an island for three days.
