Hello Everyone!!!!

First time posting here, I recently aquired a 75 19' CC. I plan on restoring it over the winter but I have a question. the sides flex when I put any sort of pressure on them. I had Mako's my whole life and never noticed it on the Mako. Is this normal for the Aquasprts to do this or do I have to look into reinforcement?
Thanks

All the early models flexed, especially if the teak rod racks were removed, they actually added some gunwhale stiffening. Nothing to do with build quality, just the way they were designed. Next time you fly in an airplane, get some seats over the wings and see what the wings are doing. A little flex can be a good thing! Welcome aboard!

Welcome! Sorry Aaron beat me to it, I was waiting on him to get to my house!!
You might want to look at the underside of the rubrail while you press in on the hullsides. Hulls almost always flex until the deck is put on (shoebox joint) which stiffens everything up pretty well. Your rubrail, and your hull-to-deck joint may be loose...

Howdy and welcome! I have a 76 19-6 that I just started working on. Sexy beasts, aren't they? You'll love it here. The folks are knowledgeable and nice and you can't beat all the sexy Aquasports! Where are you located?

Welcome!
As far as your gunwales flexing, it's not really so much your gunwale flexing as it is the gunwale cap flexing. Your year 19-6, and all years prior, were basically built in a 3-piece layup: Hull, Inner Liner (floor and walls), and the gunwale cap was attached finally. The later models (1976 and on) were built with a 2-piece layup with the gunwale incorporated into the inner liner. The later models had a much more rigid gunwale because of this, but the look changed due to the changed gunwale.
It is good to have some flex in a boat, but our gunwales flexing don't really lend much to the structure of the boat, it's just kind of annoying since the gunwale is the first place you naturally step to board the boat. Also, the gunwale is used for cleats, rod holders, downriggers, a place to mount a bimini top, troll motor mount, etc... So, it would serve you to beef it up. As Fitz mentioned, the original wood rod racks under the cap helped, but there are some aftermarket rod racks out there that will work to the same effect (and wont rot like the wood).
Let's see some pictures!

I had the same problem, causes no harm but fixed mine by making new rod holders out of teak that also support the deck and tie the hull sides to the deck

I am looking into adding some rod holders for more support. I believe that i saw some show a link to a template of the rod holders, however I have not been able to find it with the search button. Is this available?
