livewell leaningpost build
«

decided to build a livewell leaning post, or atleast the outside portion... only took a couple hours to build...
shopping list:
two 4x8 sheets of 1/4" plywood
one 1x8 untreated pine
one 2x2 peice of 3/4 plywood
box of screws
cost: 60 bucks
cut the1x8 down to 1x1 strips for the frame, screwed the ply to the frame, soaked a piece of ply in hot water for 30 minutes to make it flexible for a curve... so far heres where im at

Looks like a cool idea,
How long do you want it to last? You may want to think about upgrading your materials to marine ply and or foam and glass and only build this once. It may cost $300-$400 in materials but you have it for many years to come... This one could be your prototype for size and design and then build the final version with the right materials. Just a thought...

i dont plan for it to last forever, if i get 2 years most out of it, ill be happy. eventually a quality unit like hammerhead or bayside will be on the boat, but in the mean time, this will do.

How are you going to mold the lining for the livewell? Will it just drop in? I like the design, if you coat it completely I would bet you'd get more than 2 years out of it.

Run with it Aaron. But keep in mind what Fitz says. By the time you have it looking good enough to be proud to have it on your boat, it may very well cost as much as one of Tommy's...
