I got some pics of the other motor last night along with the live well that we are going to cut out of the old Roughneck and fab into a livewell seat for my boat.

Here is the '77 Evinrude 115...

Here is the livewell that I am going to cut out...

I have been working on the console in my spare time, but haven't gotten REAL far on it in the last few weeks.  Here are some pics of what I have going on now.

Here is what the console looks like after the modifications that I made to it.  I am also going to cut out the center divider on the back and install a set of teak doors that I got from another boat.

Here is the leaning post that I am probably going to get for it.  The cushions need to be recovered, but the rest of it is nice.  The back bench also folds up so you can get to a cooler underneath.  Also, the doors that you see in front of the leaning post are the ones that I am cleaning up and putting on my boat.

Here is a pic of one of the doors taken off the boat and ready for some restoration.

Here is one of the doors after a LOT of sanding!

I will be working on her tonight to get the door frame cut down and mortised to fit my console dimensions.  I am anxiously waiting for early December when my bonus comes in so I can dump a LOT of money into her.  I should be able to have her ready for a motor by February.  I have also abandoned the idea of using either one of those old motors or putting that old live well in for now.

Stay tuned......  I have some SERIOUS Aqua-porn coming in the next few days!

I have been kind of dormant for the last few months getting supplies together and doing little nick-nack prep work on the boat.  Now I have all of the hoses and wiring together, the floor panels have been templated, cut and resin-coated.  I will be installing the new tank, hoses, wiring and floor throughout the next week and will get some pics up as soon as I can.  I am $1600 into materials, etc and my buddy has donated over $2000 worth of materials and parts.  I will have the boat ready for a motor by March and will not have over $2500 into it myself.  It's GOOD to know people!  lol

NOW I'm starting to get excited!

I can't find my memory card with the pre-floor pics, but here are a few from tonight.  The tank is in, ground, fuel sender and bilge pump wires run, fuel fill, feed and vent hoses are in, tank is foamed in and the floor is installed.  So here is some Aqua-porn for you guys.  Without the pre-floor pics, I know it doesn't rate XXX status, but it's better than PG-13!

I love the purdy new floor!  It's 3/4" to give a little more strength and a sturdier feel than 1/2".  I fabricated the fiberglass tube for the wire feeds under the console.  It still has to be recessed in the floor before glass.  And yes, I cut the hole in the side for the 10" pie plate.  I don't mind it being there, and it makes installation of the new fill and vent hoses SO much easier!

Here is a pic with the console test-fit to see exactly where I want to put it.  I am moving it approximately 8"-10" forward of the stock location to give more room at the rear of the boat, move the CG forward a bit since our AS's are so tail heavy and also to make more room for my huge leaning post!

Here is a better pic showing just how much room I'll be freeing up by moving the console forward.

Here is my ugly butt to give you a better idea just how much taller the console is since I modified it and added the upper section for gauges, VHF and stereo.  MAN, AS's don't have much real estate on the consoles for anything when stock!  When finished, it will have a full 6 gauge cluster, VHF, stereo, fish finder, GPS, 6 switch panel with pop-up breakers instead of fuses plus the normal stuff like steering, throttle, ignition switch, horn button, etc.

Since I haven't posted any pics in a while, I hope this gets me at least a LITTLE redemption for now!

Thanks wingtime.  I could not have gotten this far this fast, or for nearly as cheap without my buddy with the marine repair shop.  I totalled everything up earlier today, and he has donated $2500+ worth of parts and materials for my boat (plus the almost $1700 that I have spent)!  I am also getting his discount at the marine supply houses.  I have gotten things like 5 gallons of resin and 5 gallons of acetone for $200, console-mount (individual port and starboard) led navigation lights with stainless housings for $31/set, 8' of fuel fill and vent hoses for $53, etc.  Without his help/discounts, I would be around $4000 into her right now!  I already have (from him) the helm, gauges, GPS, fish finder, fiberglass cloth, gelcoat, new aluminum rub rail, trailer lights and wiring harness and a ton of other stuff.  I literally have boxes of supplies.  At the rate I'm going, she will be ready for a motor by late February or early March.  Supplies and money aren't the deciding factor anymore.  Now, it's time to work on her!

Looks really good! I'm in the same boat (Phun Intended), I have a huge pile of parts, but no time, or the correct temp to finish the fiberglass. As it is 28 degrees outside at the moment, it looks like I will be waiting some time.

Regardless, keep up the good work!

I had rubbermaid tubs full of thousands in parts stacked in my bedroom for a few months. Tripping over a porta-bracket on the way to the bathroom late night is no fun. Installing all the extra's is the instant satisfaction part of the build.
My wife was so happy to see all that stuff finally get on the boat and out of our bedroom.

I can't say that I feel your pain Fletch.  I live 15 miles north of Galveston Bay.  When I took those pictures last night, it was around 75 degrees and muggy.  Ya gotta love living in south Texas.  January, and it's in the 70's.  In my area, we have 2 seasons....  We have ungodly hot for around 9 months and cool for 3.  If it gets down past around 50 degrees, people act like they're going to die from hypothermia (sp?)!  Don't even ask what happens when it snows every 4 or 5 years.....

Does anybody know if the leaning post/seat is a standard aquasport seat? I like the seat reversed because I usually fish out the back.

If you're talking about the leaning post pic that I posted, it is not a stock AS item. That came out of a 28' CC that my friend and I are rebuilding for a customer. The customer decided to go a different direction, so I picked it up for cheap.

HA! Yea, I've mentioned on a few other posts that my pops lives in Juno Beach Florida.....and complains when it dips down into the 60's. It was in the teens here last night. The kind of cold that just pisses you off as soon as you go outdoors.

Makes boat building difficult at best. Either way, keep up the good work man!

A quick question.....  I am going to be starting to fair the edges of the new floor to the hull sides tonight with a Cabosil/resin mix.  Do you guys normally tab that in with glass cloth/mat, or do you wait to bring in the cloth until after everything is faired?

Just curious.....
