I figured I would start a post to see what everyone else had happen over the long weekend? It seems a few of us on here didn't fair so well.  Mike ripped a stansion off his bow rail, I broke down again and had to be towed in  :(   Anyone else have a great weekend??

We went to the mountains of north Ga and camped out. No snakes, lots of bug spray, dammed the creek up and my son and I made it into a small waterfall. Water temp in the creek was 63 degrees and felt great on the scorching afternoons. Set off enough fireworks Sunday night that we had the law show up right after we got done. Brother in law from up there greeted LEO, LEO asked him "Do you know if anybody has been setting off fireworks around here?"  Answer "Uhhh, yeah that's what I'm cleaning up" as he is standing there with spent rockets and mortars in his arms. Seemed to not have an issue and he just left. I guess we didn't get caught actually setting them off so they can't do anything! Oh yeah we ate like kings!

Marc,
Very sorry to hear of your fuel problems and subsequent towing, as well as Mike's mishap.  I've been towed in more times than I like to think back on... some sort of a right of passage, that's what I tell myself.  Maybe we need the those bad days to help make the really good days excellent.

Lewis,
You had a good weekend, just like me and the wife - so that' cool !! That cold water helped you beat the heat. It was F**K'IN-A hot here, about 103 F !  at the lake we went to. The town we live in on the coast rarely exceeds, say 68 F; at the lake, only about 40 miles inland, it was hotter than a two dollar pistol !   But that cool lake water was just the ticket.

On Saturday we towed the boat down to the lake, pretty much owned by the wake boarder boats (and their crazy-loud tower speakers...pox on them) cruised around the lake, found some peace and quiet and half heartedly fished for small mouth. Mostly we chilled out in the water on a rope sling I fashioned with a dockline, under the shade of the bow flare. Later we found a steep rocky cove large enough for just our boat, anchored fore and aft, and spent a relaxing late afternoon/evening kicking back, listening to the Mavericks.  But I forgot my dern camera, so Sunday morning we jammed back to the ramp and I ran up to the truck and grabbed it then we went and shot some glamor shots of the boat.

We had a great time, the wife really enjoyed sleeping on the boat, and we had no issues that dampened the vacation.  Once again, sorry to hear of the "challenges" some of us endured, and Mike, very glad everyone came home with all of their fingers and toes.

Hope to hear more weekend stories from the rest of ya'll !! :bounce:

                              Best wishes, T

T,
She looks great (boat and wife)!  Like the fold-up backrest turning the engine box into an aft bench, sorta.  That wasn't part of the original I/O build.

Glad you had a great weekend.  Speaking of hot and cold, I know guys from out west that have snow skiied and water skiied...on the same day!

Our weekend=DISASTER.

My oldest was in town, she wanted to have a pool party/cookout. So she asks if she can bring some friends over. Sure, how many? About 3 other couples...I went to the store, bought a buncha food and beer. But told them they all needed to bring their own beer. Why...don't you have any alcohol at your house? I assured her I did, but they still needed to BYOB.

So they all show up around 2 pm....but more come, and more...and more. At one point I counted 22. Of course, she is REAL HAPPY. My wife is REAL PISSED.

So about 6 pm or so my 6' 5'' 240 lb. bodybuilder new son-in-law wants to wrestle. He grabs me up and spins me around like a top. Over his head. I feel my ring finger on my left hand make a bad noise. He sets me down, the tip of the finger is bent down towards the floor and won't go back up. My neighbor is a Dr. and he thinks the flexor tendon that works the top of the last knuckle has been torn from the bone. Most likely will need hand surgery. And I'm left handed, so gonna need to pick my nose right-handed for a while.

Well they eat up all the food, drink all the beer...there ain't so much as a crumb of anything left. Nothing. Then they split. Heard they went to a bar at the beach, got home about 4 am, and two of the boys got in a bad fistfight..oh boy.

But in the meantime...we have a beautiful pair of nesting bluebirds. The eggs have hatched, and the male and female are busting butt to feed the babies.

For the party, I had bought a sticky rod for flies, a big one like they use in horse stables. Yesterday morning...I found the male stuck to it. Got him off, put dawn on him...but no saving him. I had to put him down. Absolutely sucked.

So we went and bought the momma some mealy worms. She found them immediately
So now she won't have to hunt...gonna keep her in worms untill they leave the nest..2 weeks or less.

She sat on the house last night untill after dark...it was awful.

Anyway...that's the story.

Our weekend went great except for a broken axle on the trailer! We took our Aqua out to the big blue for the first time this year and didnt let the trailer ruin our fun. Family and friends had a blast catching fish and enjoying the weather window we had. Boat ran great 40 miles offshore and back. Burned 60 gallons of fuel with a round trip of 110 miles total. Yesterday we ran 36 miles out! Ended up putting the boat in a slip and brought the trailer home for repair. Few pics of the trip, enjoy!

Nice haul (at least as far as fishing goes) jasons!

What a story Scott...

Glad to hear most of you guys had a good weekend    As for me, mine was spent with family and friends and free firework shows ... and it was enjoyable, albeit uneventful.  The Marlowes' have a rule when it comes to Holiday Weekends- leave the boat alone.  It's worked well for generations

Jason,
Bud, that is an awesome catch of snapper!!  Well done, and it looks like you have an accomplished family of fisherpersons (what a stupid word, but whatever...)!

Jesse, your families advice is well received... :thumleft:

Seabob,
Thanks! I love having the family out on the water and seeing them reel in fish. I am just the Capt and deck hand but I 'll take it for the smiles, memories & well spent time together in return!

Jason,
Took a buddy I used to work with out on Sarasota Bay once, he never fished.  My goal was to "teach" him...once that first trout hooked him up, we went fishing twice a week for the next few years...

It was a thrill turning him onto the adrenalin rush you get from a good fish on the line, and I know you get the same thrill when your wife or kid get a good one on, especially your kid!

Well done sir! :salut:  :salut:
