Sadly the VLV trailer is gone but do you recognize his NASCAR ride in Speedway?

WELL.....

I did not think a 1st timers question could create such a frenzy!

Thank you all for your input, and I firmly agree with the phase separating issue with the light beer so I stay with the heavy's!

Since I carry startron and am a newie and have not had a problem with the product to date, I think I will not fix what is not broken!

Thanks to Bill for his assistance also!

Depends on how bad the "reason you got banned" was...

I even had to send a PM to THT Mod 13 with a personal apology once...yet my comments that got me banned had nothing to do with him!

Sometimes it can be a tough place, you gotta have a thick skin and be able to move on.  Too often, what I see, is members belaboring a point to where tempers start to flare, next thing you know, someone got banned.  Not that big of a deal?  3 days.  Bigger deal?  30 days (mobjack, my buddy, just got off one).  BIG deal?  You're outta there!  You'll even get IP banned, but there are ways around that.

The key is to keep a level head, use the forum, and contribute to it, for what it is best for, boating info and knowledge.  Too often, people get in over their heads, or they have a little knowledge and are there just to stir the pot.  That's when the chit hits the fan...

Hi fellas,
I'm new to the forum & I do have an issue with water in the fuel tank, my boat was standing out in the open & uncovered for 18 months, there was a lot of rainwater inside the cuddy & in the bilge which I thought I had drained, but it appears that there was still a lot of old water in the boat when I launched her for the first time yesterday. Seabob advised me to search for fuel/water related problems elsewhere on the forum - that's why i'm here.
Question 1. - Is there a way to find out how much water is in the tank without draining it out.
2. From what iv'e read it appears that water seperates out of fuel when left standing, correct?
3. if 2 is correct, then the water should lie under the fuel.
4. If I syphon from the bottom of the tank until neat fuel emerges then add some of the Formula X-2 stuff do you think that would sort out the problem, or would you syphon all the liquid out, throw it away & start with new fuel.
5. Is it likely that seawater is entering the tank whilst running
6. Or is it more likely that rainwater has entered the tank while standing that length of time, I drained about 20 gallons of water out of the tank well & bilges today, the tankwell drain hole was blocked.

Emulsifiers may seem to make water "disappear" but it's still there. They typically contain alcohol or a similar cousin. Adding more alcohol to E10 is not a great idea. You simply cannot make water disappear any more than you can make it burn. It's not possible. If it were, we'd all be filling our gas tanks via a garden hose.

You can achieve the same miraculous effect by adding EG (ethylene glycol, an alcohol cousin) antifreeze to water to make it "disappear."  Some gas treatments actually contain EG. Others have IPA which is Isopropyl Alchol (rubbing alcohol).

GM experimented with emulsified fuel in the 80s and found they had to rebuild the engines every 20 hours or so due to the significant carbon buildup. Emulsifed fuels do not burn cleanly, thus leaving carbon deposits.
