Live well 90 degree diverter ?
« on: June 11, 2011, 03:24:38 PM »
Hi all,
Hope you are all enjoying your spring so far. I seem to have lost my 90 degree diverter for my 02 explorer live well. Any ideas on where I might purchase one?
Thank you

Hi Pete,
No its the one that makes the water from the pump go swirl around the live well. Its a a small plastic 90 defree threaded thing.
Thanks

Bob,
I found one of these white attwood diverters, unopened in its bag, in our new '99 215 Exp.  I was looking at it, looking at the live well, looking at the diverter, scratching my mellon, and muttering WTF, over.

Could you please explain its application and the purpose for using it.  To use it, are modifications to the livewell necessary, or does it just screw in somewhere.

    Thanks for your assistance, T

the diverter attaches to the live well water inlet and as you screw it up or down it increases or decreases the water flow into your live well,at least thats how mine works! :salut:

Hey Pete,
Thanks for your input, but what the heck do you use it for?  Is its function merely a flow-rate control device, or does it provide a circular flow pattern that the bait like/need, or WHAT?    What's the dang thing fer?

I beleive its just to control the flow rate, when I use mine I adjust it about half way, keep the baits alive without pushing them around too much,as long as there is enough water flow to keep your baits alive youre good,I also turn it off and on every 15 min or so, holds baits all day, enjoy

Thanks Pete, I will give it a try.  I haven't had any bait in there yet.  Is Palm Bay near Melbourne?  I went to high school near Merritt Island; I played football against Melbourne and I think Palm Bay, if I am remembering correctly.   Cheers, T

T,
Here a pic of one I just installed on the doc's Pursuit, turned a useless tub in his leaning post into a livewell, teeing off the livewell pump for the livewell in the stern...

And, yes, he does have the nicest looking overflow drain around.  I have quite a few Stalon t/hulls laying around, thought I'd put one to use...

Speaking of Melbourne and Palm Bay, if your heading east on 192, you go through Pam Bay first, then Melbourne...lived in Orlando for 14 years, my ex BIL lived in Palm Bay...

Looks great Bob! Thanks for the inch and a half you sent me. JD and Mike are coming fishing here next weekend, we are using the same one you sent (pictured here) as a drain for JD's new livewell.

I have made a modification. I found a nice chrome shower drain guard (circular with holes in it) to glue over the top of the thru-hull on the inside, diameter of this piece 2". Made the edges concave to fit the thru-hull. It looks clean and is functional...keeps the pogies from getting their noses stuck in the drain, eliminating overflow on the deck.

Nice work bro!

I really don't think he'll use it much, the doc has MANY things on his plate (6 boats)!  If I need to put a screen over, no big deal...

Thanks, Scott, when you might need another one, let me know.  Someday, Lewis might need some...someday...
