vinyl wrap? decals removed
« on: June 06, 2011, 11:51:12 AM »
just removed the decals on the boat, considering having a wrap done...

before

removed decals and stripes

and here's kinda what the graphic will look like, havent decided on the colors yet, thinking black hull sides with silver accents, or silver sides black accents, or navy blue with silver accents...

what do you guys think? its a helluva lot cheaper and easier than paint and a plus side is its not permanent

Actually the best tool for removing vinyl graphics is...  an vinyl graphics eraser.  you can used them in a drill but the best tool is a special geared down air tool built just for this use.    These things take off the vinyl film and adhesive in one step without damaging the paint or gel coat.  3M is the best one but here are a few links:

ive decided to back out of having it wrapped for now, talked to a few of our mechanics today, they said just paint the boat, they show me boats they've done with the "roll and tip" method on and they look damn near like gelcoat for less than 200 bucks in supplies and 3 days labor... heavily considering this now... gonna check with one ov my parents friends that does paint/gel and glass work see how much he'd charge me as a side job...
