Proline 24FB
« on: June 03, 2011, 09:21:49 PM »
Just picked this boat up running it the way it is until i save up a few bucks to start the project.  I got a few soft spots on the floor that i want to fix this winter.  Wondering what kind of idea you all have that will make this boat look better.  As for the project my ideas I have so far are to close in the transom with 2 crab buckets and a 25 oval livewell in it, redo all the stingers, bulkheads, and floor, a hammerhead livewell.  would like to change the way the from of the cap looks and make it a little flatter but cant figure out how to do that.  Let me know what ideas you guys have and things you may think may make things easier in my process.  This will be my first rebuild so any help will be nice.  Also from experience does anyone have an estimate on how much the stringers, bulkhead, floor and transom will run?

Thanks for the help

Was that proline a Boca Grande guide boat?  it looks very familiar almost like I have seen it around. It run ok with a 115hp?
The 24 proline seems almost identical to a 22 flatback with the same beam its almost like they just added 2 feet to the aquasport mold.

Rebuilding stringers, floor and transom with coosa + fiberglass + resin cost roughly $5K. Thats just materials no rigging, paint etc etc. I stopped saving receipts about 3 months ago as I don't even want to know how much $ I have invested in it anymore. These flatback boats are a labor of love and like anything else the sky is the limit when rebuilding them.

Good luck with the rebuild

It runs fine with the 115.  In the future looking to put a 225 on it but thats down the road.  If it is recent in Boca you may have been seeing me I've been out a couple times in the past week. Thanks for the estimate got to save a little before i get started on the project.

Is it possible just to add to the transom instead of completely rebuilding?  The transom was done not long ago I just want it to be flush with the rest of the deck.

Thanks,
Tim

I am new to the site, and I am looking into getting a project boat! I really like the FB 24' Proline and the Aquasport 222. I just have a few questions. First what is the beam width of the FB 24' Proline? And second, what are some pros and cons of the 24' proline vs. the 222 Aquasport? And last, how did you go about finding that 24' Proline?

         Thanks in advance- Sam

There are two different FB proline 24's. Not positive but I believe it was after 72 that they built one that was a bit wider and had higher sides. The one I have is the older version. Also not positive but I believe it to be a tad narrower than a 22.2.

Pro and cons? You gain 2 feet of deck space with a 24 and probably just a little bit better ride. Not sure what the cons could be.

I just finished building mine. I spent a month of hard core looking on Craigs List, boating forums and asking around. Finally found mine.

Even though I worked for both companies LONG after these 80s models were built, I have had the opportunity of seeing a couple of old PLs brought back to the factory for floor replacements, stringer replacements, and transoms...that being said, I'd go with an AS!

No I have not added a Tower or T-Top. I will never add a tower to it. I may possibly add a T -Top in the future.
The color is Copper Sand Metallic.  The boat has only been in the water once just to make a few trailer adjustments. I am in the process of the final stages before I actually put her to work.
