JJ, what happened to the FS forums?
« on: June 03, 2011, 10:03:34 AM »
JJ,
Obviously the FS site has undergone some changes, but it appears the forums have disappeared.  What's up?

ALL of the sites owned by Intermedia Outdoors (FS, Guns and Ammo< Fly Fishing, and more) are down and have been for 9-10 days.  They claim server hardware issues.  My suspicion is that someone did not pay the electric bill.  I asked the FS forum administrator and he only knows what the message says when you try to go there.  Who knows.  They gut shot the FS forum two years ago when Intermedia Outdoors took over and changed the software.  It has just taken it two years to die.

Thanks, Scott.  You know me, just a little THT bilge rat...

It's changed over the years, lots of newer "faces", the old farts seem to not like the fact that their little playground is no longer theirs...

I've been trying to "jump start" reelboating for a couple of years now, just can't figure out how to light a fire under those guys.  You see them post on THT, but silent on RB...go figure.

I smell more than server issues.  Any computer field that I am aware of someone would get fired if a new server(s) was not up and restored with a daily backup within 24 hours.

Word is that they lost not only the servers but the backups as well.

Anyway, FS is back up running vbulletin software instead of the kludge in-house software.  If you get asked for a password, then wait until tomorrow and it should be wide open.  Everyone will have to sign up again.

By the way, it's basically an empty forum right now.  They "claim" that they will be able to restore all the old threads in time.

Maybe they are still tweaking.  I am not involved anymore.  I'm just picking up tidbits from friends.
