Therm, just re-read your thread, start to finish...my we were all smart back then

How is she coming?

It's been an experience.  I think it's going well. I guess I'm about 6 weeks from completion and hitting the water.  I'm looking forward to it.  I expect a few more surprises, but I hope no long delays.

I've followed your thread. You've made huge progress in the past few weeks, and your boat looks great. Check PM for a question about your T-top.

The past few weeks have been sanding and more sanding.  I was at the shop today hitting the inside of the hull, cap and deck with 80 and then 120 grit.  Tim -- the pro handling the restoration -- is doing some detail work on the deck, cap and bench. He is finishing some patch work under the hull.  If all goes well, the first undercoat goes on everything but the deck and bottom tomorrow.

Here are some pictures:

This is just a shot of the transom. You can see the arc along the cap.  I like the looks of it.  The thru holes are the  deck drains on either side, the bilge drain, the livewell drain and bracket bolts.

This is the bench in the transom.  You can see how Tim shaped it and fit it into the transom and cap.  I think it's going to look nice.  The livewell is the center hatch.  Storage on either side: one side with penetration for controls, fuel and filter, and the other side with penetration for wash down and two bilge lines.

The cap back to the transom.

She is looking great! Love the transom curve too. Very classic.

The built-in at the stern is really nice...and functional :thumright:

Great for a sunset cruise...but also great for fishing. And structurally, terrific stiffness in support of the bracket. You guys are getting a nice job, can't wait to see her this fall at Octoberfest!

That is filler.  It is Cab-O-Sil. I think I'm spelling that correctly.  It was laid down and sanded to smooth over seams.  I started with 80 grit then down to 120 grit.

put some micro balloons in with the cabosil as well, it will sand way easier. 3 parts cab to 2 parts mb is about right

Cabosil/MB/wood flour.... I hope you guys all know the trick of smoothing that stuff with a sharp cabinet sraper... I learned that from an old guy up here and it changed my life.. Doing those seams would have scared me to death.. I always hosed something up and sanded grooves into things that I just filled or didn't want to put grooves in..  The scraper takes off the high spots and when it is sharp will peel off gossimer thin shavings and it is fast!  The beauty is that you can buy a scraper for $12 and one will last forever or make them out of old used up saw blades..

From the looks of it you are doing just fine.. Really nice leveling job :D  :!:

Sorry for the minor derail..

I'm leaning toward Awlcraft 2000 Midnight Blue for hull and one of the whites for the cap and interior, with nonskid on sections of the cap and deck.

The shop put down the first top coat today on the inside of the hull above the deck and the cap.   It's Awlcraft Oyster White.  On Saturday we'll sand the hull with 440 and on Sunday it will get a top coat.

Not great picks. I'll get better this weekend.

Worked on the boat today.  Sanded the hull and prepped it with Awlgrip solution. Tomorrow Tim will spray on a top coat of Awlcraft Midnight Blue.  I'm excited to see the hull painted, the fairing looks good.

Here are some better pics of the top coat above the deck.

Here's first pics of the hull.  One snag:  Ended up short of paint.  The side you cannot see in these pics is not sufficiently covered.  I thought we had most of the sanding behind us, but now we'll hit the entire hull one more time and then paint it all again.  Downside is time, cost and more time sanding.  Upside is that we can touch up any spots we missed fairing.
