Okay it really is a small world! My wife was born in Pittsfield but grew up in Washington. She said to ask if you guys remember the Busy Bee restaurant or if you remember the name of the grinder place? Her dad and brothers ran Gillett Auto in Washington until it burned down.

Lewis, I'm not sure how I missed your reply. OMG really small world!  Yes I remember the Busy Bee!  Used to go there all the time when I was a kid.  In fact I fell over in my high chair there and hit my head really bad. (that might explain alot)  The grinder place is Angelina's I was up there a few years ago and had one... still the same great grinders!  Wow what's your Wife's maiden name, what street did she live on and how old is she?

after 12 years of marriage she's kind of used to me showing up w/ toys.  If I can sell off some of the other stuff I'm sure she'll be ok w/ the boat.  Just too much "junk" in the yard right now.  I sent a pm a while back about the busy bee and angelinas, maybe it was one that went missing?  I'll keep you guys updated on the rebuild and the "soap opera" lol.    Already purchased a new hatch for the baitwell and keeping an eye out for a t-top and remote searchlight.

Thanks Marc,

I believe my console is 40" wide were it kicks out at the bottom and 44" at the very bottom not including the fastener lip all the way around.  I'm thinking I should remove the rod holders and mount the t-top on the upper lip of the console, saving deck space and less holes in the deck.  It would also make it alot easier to use some flat stock as a backer.  anyone have thoughts/suggestions/ pics?

The T top must be lag bolted or toggle bolted and sealed to the floor. T tops go through a trumendous amount of stress on the trailer and in the water. I think it would be dangerous to only screw it to the console lip

well winters over (FINALLY!) and a few of the things on my to do list got done....

this is my new "transom" board, I made it out of red mohogany and the notch is there so that the motor can be trimmed out of the water without having to fold the board down

these are the new doors for the back as well-mohogany with birch center and solid brass hinges.

the teak trim was so bleached out I had to sand it down and used a red mohogony stain before four coats of finish

the pictures don't really do it justice

I also picked up a new baitwell hatch.

currently "the OutKast" is in Ashaway,RI having the fuel tank pumped out and the hoses replaced I guess there was @ 65 gallons of gas and water in the tank according to the mechanic....I'm heading there this weekend to do some fishing and install the trim.  I also had the cooer seat re-apolstered and I'll take some picks this weekend

Pete,
I just used polyurethane from the local paint shop, nobody stocked a marine varnish so I'm hoping four coats will do the trick and last a season.  On the starboard side of the boat it looks like I'm missing some kind of plastic nut that keeps the baitwell discharge hose attached to the hull (I believe it's in one of the pictures of the boat on page 2)  Any ideas on where to find a replacement?  Also, is florida a title state?

You can buy them at most marine stores, E-bay etc.

Also had the remote spotlight mounted (thanks again marc!)

fuel tank has been cleaned (still stuck w/@ 60 gallons of old fuel) and secured, just waiting to run new hoses to the baitwell before replacing the hatch and console.

Finally got a good look at the trailer but I'll post that up in the trailer forum....

thanks rick!
Most of the credit goes to steve in RI (he's a boat mechanic)...He's gone above and beyond to help me with all the inherited issues.  After bringing him the boat to do the gas tank, he's pretty much gotten to " Re-Build" all of it.  wiring was a mess, floor hatch was soft, baitwell didn't hold water etc etc etc.  He even went ahead and put it on the boat stands instead of waiting for me.   Anyways, the trailer was in worse shape than I thought.  both cross-members that the bunk brackets mount on are heavily corroded.

and there's serious pitting behind every u-bolt, so deep that I don't trust them to support the boat.  After calling local steel mills and striking out on galvanized 3x3x3/16 square stock I called sturdy built and talked them into selling/shipping me 2 6'3" pieces- didn't hurt that I also ordered a new trailer light kit and all the u-bolts and bunk brackets I need to replace them all.  hopefully, I can get the trailer fixed up memorial day weekend and take her out for a cruise....Steve thinks he should have her ready by then.  Now, I just need to run to Maine, get a post office box, and register the boat.  unless of course someone has a title and reg plate from a hull there discarding and are selling it for the right price.  I almost forgot how much fun owning a boat was!!
