Hi Rodman,

Your hull ID numbers should be molded into the hull on the outside on the either the port or starboard side of the transom right under the rubrail. They should read something like ASP XXX-XXX-80X. The only aluminum plate that I know about was the capacity plate for the horsepower, weight of cargo, just informational and it was mounted on the inside of the boat usually near the aft corners.

Nope, my 1981 has an aluminum vin plate riveted to the hull on the port side transom just below the rub rail.  There is no molded in vin that I have found anywhere on the boat.  I looked at a 1980 200XF about six months ago and it has the same aluminum plate for the vin.  Is your capacity plate readable?  That should have the year on it...  I think.

I would just have a new one made, can't be too expensive.

The newer models (1990's) had the HIN molded in 2 places, just as others mentioned.  Guess that was a newer idea.
