I think I exhausted the year's, maybe the decade's supply there...

Scott R,
Moved to Orlando in May, 1980, got at job a Sleaze World, AKA Sea World, while going to school at UCF...know a bit about Dismal Rat World (our name for it... )...

Most people don't know it, but back in that day, fully half their workforce was gay...and ALL the chatracters! I know we should be tolerant, but, c'mon...

SB, that's cool!

Gotta tell u guys this, and its the truth.

Back around 1987, my first wife and I took our two young girls to DW in Orlando....they were 7 and 5.

We went to the "Character Breakfast" on the fake paddlewheeler in the lagoon.

Big money. Sure it still is. Nowadays, guess would run $250-300 for a fam of four.

Anyhow, at the end of the breakfast, "Goofy" comes out, wants to hug me. Big Goofy, musta went six-four without the head. The SOB goes to hug me, and squeezes me up underneath my armpit as hard as he can. I can hear him huff with glee as he departs. It hurt.

Well, two years later, we're back. same place. Got my eye on Goofy. At the end of the show, I held my arms out to him, full embrace. Gave him a big loving squeeze in the same place. His knees buckled. This Goofy was a little shorter.

"That's for last year" I whispered to him (her) (it)?

Anyhow...sorry Goofy...learn some manners.

I went with my family in 72. Space mountain was almost finished, Epcot was still on the drawing board. Stayed at the Polynesian and I think it cost us 40 bucks a night for a family of four. I was 16 or 17 and quickly got tired of the park itself but we discovered the small boats that you could rent by the hour at the hotel. If you rode in the seats where you were supposed to it buried the stern and it would not get out of the hole you were digging. They would not go over 5 mph. There was this other kid that was renting them at the same time and somehow figured out that if you climb up over the bow and hang your legs off the front it would get up on plane. These things were only about 8 feet long and I don't think they had more than about a 6 or 7.5 on them. But man oh o man when you climbed up front and reached back behind you and grabbed the wheel and slammed the throttle these things would scream. Okay so they would only run about 15, maybe 20, but dang when you are sitting up front and there is nothing in front of you but air it was pretty cool. We would pass the other boats like they were standing still. For two days we terrorized the lake until one of the park police saw us and met us back at the dock. That  was not a good time when pops found out! I guess it was good we were leaving the next morning. Maybe thats where my love of boats came from....Nahhh! I loved them way before that day!
