Lewis, pics of the hatches...
« on: May 02, 2011, 07:05:11 PM »
The one on the front of the console, I just got from sailboatowners.com, Tempress hatch, best prices I've seen so far...

The one on the aft side looks typical of a Jim Black...

I like the cam locks rather than the handles, although mounted on a vertical face, either will do just fine...

I swear, the Doc keeps getting me smaller and smaller consoles to work in.  This is a Renegade 17 with a tweaked 200 Merc on her...

Note the chains and turnbuckles in the bilge securing the motor to the stringers...

Bullet nose cone, low-water pickup, Boyesson reeds...yeah, 200HP...right!

BTW, here's the WEMA senders I was telling you about...http://www.wemausa.com/tank-sensors/det ... ensors.htm

Me either. Pretty darn neat tho.

SB....of the two, the Tempress or the Jim Black...in the stern, in the deck....which would you choose, and why. Thanks.

With the power and thrust of the "tweaked" motor on this little 17, she would soon start experiencing transom issues if she didn't have tie-ins to the stringers  It's basically transfering the load, more or less torque, to the stringers, helping out the transom.

You should have seen the way we did the transom/stringer tie-in in the old Wellcraft 238/240 CCFs and Coastals, twin engine install.  Made this look like an erector set...

Scott,
You want what I would choose for my boat?  Innovative Product Solutions, who now own Jim Black.  I know these guys, I've tested their products...they're GOOD!

Excellent. Although we all discussed it a while back on "high grade hatches",  wanted your input on those vs. the Tempress...

Thanks as always bro. The Innovatives come in colors too.

BTW, that little Renegade was built for the owner of Renegade Boats, in his own factory...http://www.renegadepowerboats.com/

The Doc bought it from him.  It is meant to go VERY fast...
