Alabama storms

My former hometown of Pleasant Grove, AL got hammered tonight. Appears that all my close relatives are okay but there are a couple of in-laws no one can reach. A friend of the oldest son says it looks like pictures of Hiroshima. Says our old house does not exist anymore. Cops have locked down the entire area. No power, no phones, very spotty cell service. I guess there will be pictures on the news tomorrow. The youngest son lives very near there. He clocked out of work 2 hrs ago to go check on his house but I have not heard from him since. His family is okay. They were not at home.

JJ
Know your worry. We have a family summer home on Lewis Smith Lake, AL. Can't reach the neighbor. No cell phone service and power all out through the area.
It looks bad. Probably will have to drive up this weekend to check on everything. 10 hour drive. Will bring the chain saw. Doesn't sound like fun. We have a contract on the house to sell and close by May 6th. Crossing our fingers no major damage!!
Hope all is ok!!!

All the family is okay. My son's shed rolled over. My mom's power has been off for hours, one of 300, 000 from what I hear. Here is a shot from the old home place send by the son's friend.

My word. That's awful.
Am thankful your folks are safe, concerned for all there.
Heavy devastation. Much worse than what we had here. Those trees are stripped. Ours were around F2.

Rick. The severe weather did not make it that far south.

The pictures just rekindle Andrew memories but the difference is the death toll.
There's no way to describe the feelings these folks are going through right now.
Keep the faith JJ.

We were watching streaming video from a Birmingham TV station this morning. I'm pretty sure we saw our former home. The second floor was sitting on the ground and no first floor visible.
As far as I know we lost no family or close friends. The kids have friends that lost homes but no bodily injury.

Just received this today from a friend of my son. Looks like the old boy I hired to do the roof 20 years ago did a pretty good job. House is destroyed but the shingles held up.

Wow. That has to be rough, your family home.
You must know of many there who need help. Everyone expresses their condolences...but now is the time to pitch in guys.
JJ...please post your family's local church so we may donate, from the members of CA. Thanks.
If you choose not to post, send it to me as a PM. Thanks.
