Hi guys I am looking at buying a 170 cc, it appears that I am buying into tradition. She is a one owner in good condition.  Let me know what I should expect in the ways of problems.

Also, If anyone may know this info, I can this boat be launched and retrieved with a dodge grand caravan. The tow capacity is 3800 lb and I think the boat is around 1100 lb so towing shouldn't be a problem.

1978 looks like a really nice boat, haven't taken her out yet just doing my research. I really like the fact that I have a forum like this to fall back on. I will post photos tomorrow

Norman,

you should be fine with Caravan, you may be looking at 2300# max boat, motor, and trailer..

I drug my 170 around with a E150 6 cylinder van for about 10 years.  I had no side windows in the back so I had to get real good with mirrors.  No problems except it was a stick and that is a pain on a ramp - need 3 feet.
I then towed it with a '91 F150 5.8 L 4x4 - no problem.
Then I towed it with a '03 Toyota Tacoma TRD Prerunner - think it had a 3.4L (don't remember) - was fine.
Then I towed it with a '06 Toyota Tundra - 4.7L - no problem.
Still have boat and same truck.
You should be fine.
