« on: April 13, 2011, 08:17:29 PM »
:study: Hello AS owners! I am intending to purchase an  1999 AquaSport CC this weekend or next, I am super stoked! the boat is outfitted w/a 1999 Honda 90 HP 4-stroke, is this motor sufficient in power? Also what should compression check show? looks like an osprey? has 19-6 or 196 sticker on the P/S sides, also having trouble finding certain specs on the boat ie wood or composite stringers, wood or glass transom, I'll take all the info I can get! Thanks mucho-Johnny :salut:

The Honda 90 will be sufficient, she won't be a speed demon, I would guess low 30's, but on the good side, she will be very quiet and great on gas.  As far as compression, I don't know what a honda 4-stroke should be, I'm sure that info is out on the net, main thing is no more than about 10 PSI variance between cylinders.  Your stringers are fiberglass, and filled with foam, your transom is most likely filled with a composite material.  Have fun

Maybe there should be a FAQ section on this board- the question of 90hp on a 19-6/200 sure gets asked a lot :)

Was AS calling this boat a 19-6 in 99'?

Can't answer that one (no 99 catalog) but in 97 it was called a 200.

The length in those specs looks right, but the draft and deadrise looks wrong

Why is it being referred to as a 190?

Those are 2004 specs. They may also apply to earlier models after 1997.
Since there currently exist a void in my collection between those years, I certainly can't say.

The 2004 catalog is interesting in that it lists the following Osprey models:

175 with a L.O.A. of 17'-4" and a beam of 6'-9"  DR = 12 degrees
190 with a L.O.A. of 19'-7" (molded bow pulpit) and a beam of 7'-3"   DR = 17 degrees
200 with a L.O.A. of 19'-6" and a beam of 7'-6"   DR = 12 degrees
201 with a L.O.A. of 20'-4" and a beam of 8'-7"   DR = 19 degrees
205 with a L.O.A. of  21'-10" (molded bow pulpit) and a beam of 8'-3"  DR = 19 degrees

They also show a 215 Osprey "Sport" which is a DC model as well as the 225 and 250 war wagons.

The 97 catalog lists the 175, 200, 225 and 245 models.
That stated, Aqua either came up with a 196 model in 1998/1999 or the boat itself has had different decals applied.

Interesting.
