Any idea how deep the route to the beach is? I draw about 3 1/2 feet.

Charlie

The beach we were at last time was between 3-6ft depending where you were at,but with the amount of boats we should have this time we might have to go to the other beach which is a bit deeper.

Bob someone is gonna have to kidnapp you one of these days and bring you to a gathering

Scott,
If it was 2 years ago, and I wasn't doing chit except collecting unemployment, I'd be there in a heartbeat...but things are different now, hell, I did the wiring in the Mako bilge yesterday afternoon...Sunday!

If I remember right you should stay in the channel until you pass the islands and then turn toward the cut between them.  I remember having 3-4 feet of water when I headed right for the big island after coming through the tressel and this stayed constant all the way to the island but I was in my 170 so I really wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to that.
We may not camp at that set of islands the first night but we'll monitor the radio-68 and 69 so you should be able to find us.
I'll be on the Shady Deal.

Scott (CircleHooked) - Dave is back on for Friday and we talked about starting the caravan down at noon.

Looks like the weather will be super.

Dave's got a lower unit out on one engine so he'll be idling around for the most part - save him some gas. If we can get out in the pass a little the breeze should pick up.

I'll pack up mostly on Thursday night but do my shopping Friday morning - always looked at weird buying beer that early but... hey- as Doc would say- "it's 5 o'clock somewhere"

I can't wait - been putting in 13+ hr days for the last week+. My company just moved into a new bldg last Friday so the stress of packing your stuff up plus a small classroom is enough BUT I also had to take new bare training room, a bunch of boxes of new equipment, 6 bare formica 4'x8' display boards and build a world class training center out of it. On 3 of the boards it took about 13hrs for two of us to mount the equipment and wire it   There are 150+ crimp spade connectors on one board.
We finished about 99% of the boards today before I ran out of spade connectors. Will get them in tomorrow after 1.
It's only Tuesday so we're good so far- still have to finish the server racks up (3), set the room up with desks and white board (stick on) and then test everything.
I really need this weekend....

Rick i know a spot where there are 2 islands with a gap in between,if you get on the back side of the islands the wind funnels right in,as for Dave, slow and steady will still get you there, and it sounds like you need this weekend bad.

Well, looks as though any plans for camping ON Dog Island will need to be modified.  I called www.grandetours.com today (941) 697-8825, about reserving a campsite on the island, and was informed that the state has closed the island to campers, until the end of May!  And apparently it's posted on signs, too.  Reason: nesting Great Blue Herons.

But the smaller island is still fair game, and is first come, first served.  I'm going to try to leave mid-Friday afternoon, and get up there about 6pm, with the intent to camp on that small island.

Weather forecast looks great, marine forecast looks great!  :thumright:  See you guys in Boca Grande!

Yep, and plan B will be to simply sleep on the deck of my boat.  (I rigged up an extension to my casting platform.)  No rain is expected, I have tarp to keep the dew off me, and some netting in case the mosquitoes are out.
