water pressure tube?
« on: March 15, 2011, 09:39:39 AM »
my 112 had a water pressure gauge hooked up, when i rigged the 200 on i couldnt find where the water pressure tube went on the engine as the boat it was on didnt have a water pressure guage. i just bought a bobs jack plate and would like to hook the pressure gauge back up so i dont toast the water pump. i looked in my service manual and theres not one mention of a water pressure gauge?

so where does the tube go?

I know that when I put a Teleflex gauge on my 225 the instructions showed which plug to remove to install the fitting.  Maybe get a store with a gauge on the shelf to let you look at the instructions.  I have had a really good responses from Teleflex customer service too.  Maybe call or email them with the question.

Aaron,
Just happen to have a Seacraft with a '98 225 OceanPro on it at the house right now...

Here it is, located below the bottom coil, starboard side aft...

This is what I love about ClassicAquasport... Other people think of GREAT questions, that I want to know the answer to also!

I'm about to replace my water pressure gauge (soon as I replace my gauge panel :) .)  My existing gauge has never worked, and there's some rust inside the lens.

Would you think a new gauge will be simple to swap out?  Or will a new tube need to be run?

Mike,
I'd simply swap the gauges.  Pull the tube off the old gauge and at the engine fitting, blow a good stream of compressed air through it.  The hose has the luxury of living out of the sunlight, hence no exposure to UV...

Not knowing how the water flows through your engine, most I've seen are at the top of the engine, so you know that the water is getting up to the top. SB, unless I'm blind, I can't see where it connects on your pic, just see the pee tube.

Here is the water pressure hose leading to the gauge...

Here is the 90* fitting it attaches to...

Maybe I'm just stupid, and maybe it's not a Yamaha...

SB, in your example pics are they picking it up as it exits the engine?  Wonder if the pressure changes as the thermostats open and close?
I see the hose with the tie/clamp on it in the pic but it's still hard to see where it enters the engine - just waaaaay down there.
