Made the trip to Marine Connection today
« on: March 12, 2011, 09:24:54 PM »
Spent about 3 hours over there, wow is that place disorganized, but they are a good resource for parts if your willing to dig.
Now some pics of what i brought home.

Found a new dash panel and guages, just need to ad my system check guage.

Some new bolsters, not Aquasport but the price was right.

This will be my new single leaning post when it's cleaned up and painted, also got some cushions for it,they need to be altered, but will work great.

Thats's all for this trip, took an hour and a half just to find the coushions i wanted so i ran out of time, will post before and after pics when done.

Scott, nice job on the switch panel!!  You got lucky -- I am still on the hunt for a new gauge panel for my 225 Osprey. (separate from my switches).

I was passing through Stuart on Thursday and ALMOST made the detour to go visit Marine Connection, but I knew I'd spend too many hours there.   And it WAS a work trip and all...

Thank guys,I installed the dash panel today, wasn't exactly plug and play, had to make a hole and install my old system check gauge in the new one, then take the harness for that guage from the old panel and install on the new one,the newer boats have the system check in the tach, could have got that one but it was another fifty bucks for that tach and the guage i have is just a year old,so i used it,gotta save somewhere.

The old.

The new,and it has lights for the bilge pumps, and a buzzer to let me know,if the pumps come on by themself, didn't have that before.

Now to see if i can get a chrome bezzel for that system guage.
I might get the leaning post done tomorrow stay tuned.

Well done, Scott!  IIRC, the 8-pin deutsch plug goes to the "SystemCheck", the tach is fed by the gray, purple, and black loose wires in the engine harness...and blue, from the nav lgt switch for back-lighting...

Looks nice!  I found some chrome bezel system check gauges.  They show 2 different model numbers on their site, I'm not sure which one you will need.

I stopped there on Thursday on my trip from Jacksonville to WPB. I was looking for a half tower. Found a couple that could work with some minor modification, but what they wanted for them I can about get one custom made.

I did end up getting some new large Aquasport Sailfish graphics for the sides for only $20 a piece. And I got a small switch panel to replace one trim tab switches and a couple other minor odds and ends.

I did see those same bolsters, and almost considered getting them. But decided I wanted plain white ones. Probably just get my current ones recovered.

Like you said, if you are willing to dig you can find some good stuff. But it's pain always asking for prices on stuff. This was my trip here, so I knew what I was getting into this time. And the wife was willing to help dig if I was giving her something specific to look for.  I wanted a new ladder bracket, but I thought the $40 they wanted was too much.

Any of you guys that went down there see any cabin hatches. The top one that goes into the cabin entrance for the explorer 225 model, seems I had a stupidhead sit on mine and crack it.

jc i thought that was a good price for the decal myself,i looked at the c consoles and i can get them cheaper where i live,my wife said she can remove sail fish on the bolsters if i wanted to plus at 25 a piece and needing some i couldn't pass them up,and i know what you mean about asking prices on everything, that got old real fast.

They could have some but they have so much stuff so pilled up i could have walked right by them and didn't see them.

I got my leaning post done and installed, only have $140 into it including the new pedestal, verses the 350 400 most places get for them so i'm very happy, the cushions don't fit perfect but do the job.

Also when i removed my old pedestal it only was only thru bolted in two spots, the rest were lag screws so i filled the holes and mounted the new none back alittle, that allowed me to thru bolt the whole thing which will be alot safer.

I took the boat out yesterdayto try everything out and am very happy, that leaning post makes a huge difference in rough water,it feels alot more secure behind the wheel.

Looks good CK. How much room do you have in front of the leaning post where the controls/radio are at? Just think that it would block the radio somewhat.

The OCD/Engineer in me prefers symmetry in most things in my life, so I would have to get one for each side. But thinking about it, the wife might not go for standing up  the entire time, so I might have to consider the chairs that flip up into a leaning post. I wish I can find the cut off pedestal bases, because I would want my pedestals a little longer for the chair/leaning post combo.

J I have plenty of room in front of it,the vhf is mounted forward a bit so that's easy to get,i would like one for the other side but my little girl sits there so that will stay for now,i also looked all over for a taller cut base pedestal but they don't seem to make them anymore,Garelick dosen't even claim they made the ones i already have so i had to go with the full base which is 18" tall,in away thats ok because i was able to secure it better then the other one was.

Are the hullside decals avaialble in "Port" and 'Starboard."  I want to order them but Marine Connection keeps telling me that they are all one sided.
